SOME NEW PLANTS FROM THE PACIFIC NORTH- WEST.

collections of plants sent tothe
writer recentlyfrom Oregon, Washington and
BritishColumbia,
therewere found
several speciesnot
heretofore described.Some
of theseseem
tobe very
local asthey have not been found by other
collectors.
Most
ofthem
arefrom rather high Alpine
localities.The type specimens
are inthe
possession ofthe
writer, unlessotherwise
indicated.Erysimum
torulosum,n. sp.Biennial, with a stout taproot; stems erect, usually simple, solitary, 15-45 cm. high;herbagegreen, sparsely strigillosethroughout with short forked hairs; basal leavesspatulate, acute, coarsely dentate tosubentire, 3-8 cm.long;caulinesimilarbutreduced,mostlyentire; sepalslanceolate acutish,green atfirst,7
mm.

This plant
must
besegregatedfromE. asperum (Nutt.)DC.
on account of its green herbageand
very different torulose pods. Perhaps all the specimens fromhighaltitudes in theCascadeand Olympic
Mts. are tobe
referred here, butuntil the present mature pods
seem
not tohavebeen
collected.
