Mr. Johnson
exhibited three photographs ofMr. Trimble
taken at different ages, and a large series of unpublished plates prepared, under Trimble's direction, for the secondvolume
of hiswork on
fruit insects.The
plates excited considerable interest fromtheir excellence.Mr. Schwarz
pointed out thatsome
manuscript determinations on the margins of the plateswere
inthe handwritingof the late Professor Riley,and
placed the date atwhich
the noteswere made
atsome
timebetween
1872and
1875.Mr. Schwarz
furtherstated thatmost
of thefigures of insects, whilecarefullydrawn,
did not possess the characteristic appearancewhich
theGermans
call"
Habitus."Mr. Ashmead
called attention to the factthat a special effort had beenmade by
Dr.Trimble
to have the natural enemies of the injurious insects figured.He
said that he could at oncename
several of theparasitesfrom
thefigures.There was some
doubt as to the date of the preparation of the plates,and Mr.
Schwarz
pointed out thatLema
trilineatawas
figured as " the potato-beetle,"showing
that the platemust
have been prepared before the eastern advent of the Coloradopotato-beetle thatis,priorto 1871.

of Catelytus pallipes.He knew
of nopub
lished instance of paralysis of a larva resulting from the stingof aterebranthymenopterous
parasite.Mr. Busck remarked
that the Proctotrypid Lcelius trogodcr- matis paralyzes the larva of theTrogoderma by
stingingit beforeit laysits eggs. Dr. Stiles inquired
