The writer took 5 tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Raman Utara as a purposive sample. Title : ANALYSIS OF THE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS IN THE SUBJECT OF READING AMONG 10TH GRADE STUDENTS SMAN 1 RAMAN UTARA EAST LAMPUNG.

INTRODUCTION

Problem Formulation

This technique is subdivided into pre-reading, while-reading, and post-reading to post-reading. the three phrases aim to train the students to be efficient readers in the foreign language. Based on the interview above, the researcher has the explanation as follows; Ask teacher "what problems did you face in the reading teaching process?" the answer is lack of students' understanding of the English lesson, most students consider English was difficult and difficult, environment affects students in learning English, lack of vocabulary of the students, the students lack understanding of the use of grammar.

Reading is a process very much determined by what the reader's brain and emotions and beliefs bring to reading: knowledge/information (or misinformation, lack of information), strategies for text processing, moods, fears and joys - all of it. In the completion model, the reader's knowledge and cognitive and linguistic competence play the main role in the construction of meaning.4 As asserted by Thomas S. 9 that readers bring the experience of prior knowledge to the text and that they continue reading as the text confirms their expectation. .5 This process is the opposite of bottom-up, this model is the reader working from meaning to text.

Farrell argues that reading is the process of constructing meaning through the dynamic interplay between the reader's existing knowledge, information suggested by written language, and the context of the reading situation.7 And Janette K. Reading comprehension is a multicomponent, multicomplex process. which includes many interactions between readers and what they bring to the text (prior knowledge, strategy use) as well as variables related to the text itself (interest in the text, understanding of text types).9 Thus, understanding reading is more concerned with the reader's responses to the text. Ideas are better understood and remembered more easily when the reader is able to organize them in a coherent way.

This means that the reader can deliberately choose the important information to remember and leave out relatively less important information. When the reader reads, the readers utilize our knowledge and make inferences beyond points that are explicitly described in the text. This means that the reader can predict the intention or the information of the writer's intention.

RESEARCH METHOD

Data Resource

Primary source is the data of the research which is obviously taken directly from the original indigenous person resource (not through mediator media). The primary source of the people informed is the teacher and students on SMA N 1 Raman Utara. Secondary source or the supporting data for the research is taken from the supporting books and the result of the observation related to the research focus.

Data Collecting Technique

Nasution (1988) said that observation is the basis of all science.4 The observation method is the most used method, especially in studies related to behavioral sciences. Under the observation method, the information is sought by means of the investigator's own direct observation without asking the respondent5. The biggest advantage of this method is that subjective bias is eliminated, if observation is done accurately. In this case, the writer will organize the observation at the tenth grade of SMA N1 Raman Utara.

The writer will observe the state of the class when the learning process was running. This process aims to know the state of the teaching and learning process in reading. With face-to-face interviews, only the researcher stands between the confidentiality of the researched and the legal system.

Therefore, after conducting the interview, the researcher should not open the result to the participants to keep that data legal. The document is a record of events that are already applicable.8 The researcher will also use documentation as the tool, documentation is intended to get the archive of the school such as organizational structure and history of the school. Furthermore, the researcher will use the documentation method to get detailed information about the condition of the students, especially at the tenth grade of SMA N1 Raman Utara on the academic year 2014/2015.

Data Analyzing Technique

Approach

If students do not know this, then they only learn a small part of the text and can quickly forget it. But the meaning, the message of the text, is also important, and we must give the students the opportunity to respond to this message in some way.15 It is important that the students can understand the meaning and that the teachers allow the students to respond to this massage. Data collection is the step where the writer collects all the data used to complete the research.

Because the writer tries to explore the mistakes of teaching and learning, the difficulties of reading comprehension are often found in reading subjects. Through this research, the writer gives more information to the English teacher about what kind of difficulties in teaching and learning process in reading topics. In addition, the cases are tied to time and activity, and the writer collects detailed information using a variety of data collection procedures over time (Stake).10.

Because the writer uses a case study, he uses step-by-step procedures in obtaining research results. The writer focuses on collecting data taken from the question about the teaching and learning process on the topic of reading. The writer intends to determine the instrument for data collection, formatting and documenting the data.

Based on the above data, it can be seen that SMAN 1 Raman Utara's facilities are in good condition. SMA N1 Raman Utara has three levels; they are the tenth graders, the eleventh graders, and the twelfth graders. The classification of the tenth grades, there is no best or worst grade because the students are selected at random.

When observing this class, the writer found about the state of the class, like the situation in the learning process, the characteristics of the students and also the usual action that the student did when the teacher did not come in that class.

When teaching reading, the teacher tried to make the students enjoy the learning process of reading. In the process of learning to read, students noticed the material explained by the teacher. This was one of the factors that made it difficult for them to be well understood in the process of learning to read.

Second question for students: what tools do you need in the learning process of reading. Fourth question for students: what are the problems you encounter in the reading learning process. 40 Student 2 response: Supposed that the difficulties in the learning process of reading are the articulating way (fluency), understanding the meaning and making a good intonation.

Std2 stated that the difficulties in the learning process of reading are the way of articulating (fluency), understanding the meaning and making a good intonation. Std4 answered the question that the difficulty in learning to read is often finding the new vocabulary. Based on the result of the above interview, it can be concluded that the students have difficulties in reading topics.

Analysis of Research Data

  • The Problems of The Students in Reading Subject

The students have the problem of understanding the reading material given by the teacher. During the reading learning process, the students tried to pay attention and followed the guidance of the teacher. In this research, the researcher wants to find out the problems that the teacher and the students face during the teaching and learning process.

The students lack vocabulary, so they have problems understanding the meaning or the content of the text. During the teaching and learning process, the students do not pay attention to the teacher's explanation, they are so noisy. The teacher cannot find the best media to teach the students in the school.

And the students tried to notice and focus on the material explained by the teacher. Students' problems are less understanding of meaning, fluency and lack of vocabulary. The teacher should offer a variety of material so that the students do not get bored easily.

The students need to learn more about the meaning of the English script or text so that they can understand and understand the equivalent word, phrase, sentence or sentences and of course the meaning of the text. The students should have some knowledge of general statements or some rules, as this can help them enrich their speaking skills. Reading to the English script or text is one of the ways to add the vocabulary as well.

The other researcher must have a good knowledge of what she or he has researched so that the research goes well.
