How To Reduce The Development of Schizophrenia Among Indonesian Teenagers
Bismillah, to all the respected judges and the respected viewers, assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
As we all know, one of the mental health problems that happen among teenagers in Indonesia nowadays is schizophrenia. Based on data from the World Health Organization, there are more than 20 million people suffering from schizophrenia. Meanwhile, according to research by the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2019, it is estimated that there are 450.000 people with severe mental disorders in Indonesia, including schizophrenia. What is schizophrenia? And why do many people experience this kind of illness, especially adolescents? Well, this is Najla Almira from Ibnu Taimiyah High School, and I will tell you how schizophrenia develops among Indonesian teenagers and how do we stop it.
A recent study showed that mental health disorders, including schizophrenia, are rising among youth, caused by a lot of factors-from genetic predisposition to the hyper-connected society. Like for example, in a rapidly evolving world, our youth are often caught in the crossfire of expectations, pressures, and the ever-present influence of social media. As we navigate through these complexities, it is crucial to shine a light on mental health, particularly the challenges of disorders like schizophrenia.
The meaning of schizophrenia itself is a mental health condition that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves is often shrouded in stigma and misunderstanding. For many young people, the onset of this disorder can create feelings of isolation and confusion. They may struggle to find their place in a society that often views mental health issues with suspicion rather
than compassion. It is essential to recognize that schizophrenia is not merely a label, but a condition that requires empathy, understanding, and support.
As the voices representing the future of our nation, we must advocate for better mental health awareness and resources. Education is the key. By incorporating mental health education into our schools and communities, we can help young people identify signs and symptoms, promoting early intervention that can lead to improved outcomes.
Moreover, we must foster open dialogues about mental health. We need to create safe spaces where young individuals feel comfortable seeking help without fear of judgment. Also, talking about family and society, families should be educated about the signs of schizophrenia, encouraging a more proactive approach to seeking help. Society must challenge the stigmas that prevent individuals from pursuing treatment. We empower our youth to grow into resilient and healthy adults when we support one another.
In conclusion, addressing schizophrenia problems among our young generation is not just a matter of individual health; it is a matter of national concern. By uniting our efforts, we can ensure that mental health is prioritized alongside physical health. Let us be the champions for our youth, by advocating a bright future for our mental health. Together, we can break the barriers and build a supportive community for all.
And for the last words, I like to thank you for listening to my speech, I hope we can take a lesson from it and we can applicate it to our lives. With no more further a do, thank you, wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
