The area covers approximately 30 square kilometers and lies north of the San Gabriel Mountains between Long. The streams are intermittent, and parallel the strike of the Mint Canyon Beds for the most part. Spring Canyon parallels the strike of the beds to the west and leads into a fault.

The character of the lavas suggests that those to the east must have been intruded from Tick Canyon, while those to the west suggest partial extrusion. The sediments located just west of the complex I have called Sespe, because they do not appear to be consistent with Mint Canyon's character material. In the extreme north of the area are the consolidated, layered, red conglomerates and sandstones similar to the Tick Canyon Series.

These beds are typically exposed in Mint Canyon and comprise more than 50% of the area mapped. The Mod e llo and Saugus formations occurring south of the area have not been mapped. The wide section at the head of Aqua Dulce Canyon consists of alluvium that hides most of the structure below.

The third gives the structure of Mint Canyon and its contact relations with the overlying and underlying sediments.

Folding of the Escondido with development of North south faulting

The Tick Canyon fault displaces the lavas and drops a small syncline of Mint Canyon into contact with the Escondido. East of this fault there is another which appears to be continuous in the Escondido and only the complex. Both of these faults appear to be offset by the large northeast fault in the Basement.

Hear Skyline R anch Escondido was folded into a syncline and anticline displaced by north-south vertical faults.

Deposition o f the Mint Can y on followed by folding of Escondido and Mint Can yon. Possibl y accompanied by recurrent

This has been interpreted as a cross-fault that appears to be part of the system of north-south faults found in The same sandstone beds, impregnated with gypsum, are found in the small patch just west of the fault. Here the lava and sandstones appear to be in direct contact with Mint Canyon and not separated by a fault.

This kind of relationship indicates a very large discrepancy between the Escondido and the Mint Canyon. The major fault zone can be traced westward across the rift by the associated quartz ridge and mineralized zone. Further west this is intersected by another cross fault to the west whose contact relationships are not at all clear.

In some parts the Mint Ca nyon appears to lie directly on the complex and in others there is clear evidence of faults. This contact can be interpreted as deposition with recurrent faults along some of the faults formed in the complex.

Development of the Northeast to east faults in the comple

Depositional of the Escondido and subsequent faulting and folding with stress conditions favorable for the development

Most of the faults and folds that occur in Mint Canyon appear to be short in length and displacement. The trends of the faults and folds appear to have the same pattern as those in the Basement Complex and Tick Canyon sections, and one possible hypothesis could be that the current structure of Mint Canyon reflects an older structure beneath it. Volcanic activity in the region resulted in the deposition of ash beds in several parts of the area.

The main features of the rebuilt instrument are illustrated in the drawings at the end of the report. The leveling screws are mounted on a ½" steel plate screwed to the underside of the oak block. The top of the housing is covered by a fiberboard on which the relay and control board are mounted.

The portion of the comfort above the wood is filled with wool which is as good an insulator as sawdust and is easier to handle. Since the effect of temperature is due to the differential temperature in the spring due to a sudden change in the temperature of the base, the heating and temperature control is designed to keep the base at constant temperature. The relay is activated by completing the electrical circuit with a nichrome wire in contact with the mercury in the capillary.

At the beginning of the experiment, it took about three hours for the system to reach equilibrium. A Westinghouse 2.5 ampere galvanometer lamp is used as a light source, as a very sharp image of the Marrow filament can be obtained. In this way, the light beam is turned off completely, so that two pulses from the cell are recorded.

It may be the result of recrystallization of Elinvar or in the composition of the one used in the pendulum. This assumes that the permeability of sediments and air is the same compared to the permeability of granite. Taking the real and imaginary parts of the coefficients of the terms ej2nθ2 and cos2nθ and sin2nθ, we obtain the following equations.

In the z1 plane we have the potentials given by a line charge at z1 = o where c is the distance of the center of the cylinder from the origin. In addition, there is one in the center of the cylinder to carry the same total load. Thus, the permeability of sediments can be assumed to be one, the same as that of air.
