The Student Handbook is designed to familiarize students with the specific standards expected of them as members of the University. Student Accountability
Students and student organizations are expected to adhere to University standards and policies both on and off campus. Banners must be submitted to a designated member of the athletic department at least 48 hours prior to the competition. All conduct must be consistent with and contribute to the research and scholarship of the Vanderbilt community.
In addition, the provisions of the Student International Travel Policy (/global/student-international-travel-policy-2/) apply to students studying abroad. The student will also be informed of the procedures that Student Accountability will follow. After submitting the declarations, the student can wait three days before accountability is given.
The student may also address the issue of the appropriateness of any specific corrective action or sanction. Two full-time students from each of the ten schools of the University also serve. Residential Life
Procedures for first-year student housing assignments will normally be posted on the Housing and Residential Experience website (/ohare/) by no later than February 1, of the year in which students enter the University. Admission to the University does not guarantee allocation to a particular type of room or building. As stated in the Residential Requirement, "all unmarried undergraduate students"—regardless of class standing or seniority—are "obligated to live in on-campus residence halls" unless the University grants a student authorization to live off-campus or in Greek housing .
If a student lives in an off-campus residence alone or with one or more other students or non-students and the University finds the residence in violation. 34;Good Neighbor Guidelines (/ohare/housing/good-neighbor-guidelines/)" or adversely affects the university's relationship with the neighboring community, all resident Vanderbilt students may be subject to corrective action under the university's accountability process, even if the specific individual responsible for the behavior cannot be identified.. Students who graduate or withdraw from the University during the semester must vacate their rooms within twenty-four hours.
Failure to register may result in exclusion from housing and/or corrective action by the University. Except for graduating seniors, students with official roles in sanctioned commencement events or other roles designated by the university may, at the sole discretion of housing assignments, be required to move from their spring room to a. Students who make unauthorized room changes are subject to corrective action through the University's accountability process.
Single students sharing bedrooms must be of the same gender, unless the University has designated the room for multi-sex housing. Wooden "bed risers" are permitted as long as they conform to specifications established by the Director of Residential Facilities and may be purchased at the University bookstore and other authorized local vendors. The university expects members of the residential community to help prevent vandalism.
Failure to comply may result in assessment of disposal charges and corrective action through the University's accountability process. In addition, the following are prohibited and will likely result in corrective action through the University's accountability process, which may include action.
Student Engagement
Submitting a copy of the organization's insurance agreement to the University for registration (applicable only to those organizations that are required to insure. Use of the official registered student organization mark, which incorporates the Vanderbilt University logo, ocial University spirit marks and name Opportunity to seek funding from or sell to members of the university community on campus.
Requests for exemption or waiver of eligibility conditions should be sent to the Dean of Students with a recommendation from the appropriate administrative authority, if applicable. Based on the recommendations of the councils, Greek Life, and the Dean of Students or the Dean's designee, the University may invite a national organization to start a new fraternity or sorority. Because registered student organizations are run by students; the opinions they express are not necessarily those of the university or the student body.
Use of the University's registered student organization mark, spirit marks, name, or titles indicating an institutional relationship must be consistent with Communications and. A core part of the university's mission is to provide opportunities for intellectual exchange. External groups may collaborate with a registered student organization at a campus event, but the campus organization remains fully responsible for the conduct of the external group and the dean of students or the dean's designee must approve the arrangement in advance.
The dean of students or the dean's representative will advise the organizers on the implementation of the activity with the goal that only this one is carried out. Registered student organizations may engage in the sale of items in the online marketplace with the approval of the Dean of Students or the Dean's designee. Students must obtain the approval of the Dean of Students or the Dean's designee to sell or deliver items door-to-door in campus residences. The distribution of items for a proposed donation and other promotional activities must be carried out by members of the registered student organization.
