Berjudul: “Minat Belajar Siswa Quipper School yang Digunakan Guru dalam Mengajar Bahasa Inggris di Lab School SMP Unismuh Makassar”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui minat siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris terkait penggunaan Quipper School. Minat Belajar Siswa Penggunaan Quipper School oleh Guru dalam Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris di Lab School SMP Unismuh Makassar (Penelitian Deskriptif pada Siswa Kelas 2 di Lab SMP Unismuh Makassar).

Background

This concludes that the presence of e-learning is expected to be able to develop new ways of learning that are more effective. Using Quipper School aims to revolutionize the way people learn and share knowledge, utilizing the mobile internet (Morron, 2015). By using Quipper School, it is expected to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of learning and can be a supportive media for learning that is fun for teachers and students.

In addition, there is also the lack of understanding that the teacher gives the students regarding the use of Quipper School.

With that said, e-learning can be used as a tool to gain information and communication. Through Quipper-School as one of the e-learning media applied in some Institutions or Schools, students can be better prepared to learn easily. The learning process can happen anywhere and anytime Learning media can be designed in such a way that students can learn wherever and whenever they want, without depending on the existence of the teacher.

Based on the above explanation, it can be concluded that the existence of practical benefits in using media tools in the learning process can increase the results of the learning process and motivate students to evaluate all the lessons being taught so that they can improve their learning ability enlarge. and give them special experience.

The Concept of Quipper School

  • The Benefits of Quipper School

On the other hand, Quipper School is a medium of instruction to help teachers achieve their goals of teaching-learning (Havivah, 2015). Thus, Quipper School is created with web-based Learning Management System (LMS) or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that enables educators to administer, document, track, report and deliver electronic educational technology (e-learning) courses or training programs. Based on the explanation above, Quipper School is a ready-to-use web-based learning that does not need to be installed on an existing hosted website (or a web server).

With the existence of Quipper School features, teachers can manage all things related to learning activities like teachers can give assignments to students and students can complete them wherever they are. Sukawatie (Vol.2; 2018) stated that there are several characteristics of Quipper School that can influence students' learning process. The ‘overview’ menu provides short information about active assignments submitted by the students (‘overview submenu’), and the individual performance of students (‘achievement submenu’).

Furthermore, Quipper School can be accessed with any internet device such as Smartphone, i-Pad or Computer, whenever the students want and wherever the students are. Using Quipper School as a new learning platform is extremely important because it will support student motivation in learning. This makes it easier for teachers to see students' abilities because Quipper School has data on students' learning progress.

The teacher and students can discuss the lesson over the Internet, as Quipper School has a messaging feature that allows them to do so. Based on the above explanation, it can be concluded that the various advantages of Quipper School can support the learning skills of the students and facilitate them in a comfortable way of learning.

The Concept of Learning Interest

  • Factors that affect learning interest

Based on the above explanation, it can be concluded that interest itself is critically important. According to Deci and Ryan (2004), extrinsic motivation is a desire for certain behavior that comes from external sources and results in external rewards. These are the internal drives that motivate us to behave in certain ways, including our core values, interests, and personal sense of morality.

Meanwhile, Autonomous motivation includes motivation that comes from internal sources, but it also includes motivation from external sources if the individual has identified with the value of an activity and feels that it is consistent with their sense of self. Ultimately, it can encourage a person to interact with their environment to acquire new information and can develop into nurturing learning interest. Based on the above explanation, it can be concluded that learning factors really affect students' understanding in the lesson.

Therefore, teachers are expected to know learning interest of students because it can facilitate them to achieve the set goal. While developing the learning interest of students, it can help them see the connection between what they learn and who they are. Students need to be aware of the importance of their learning experience because it can affect their life progress in the future.

The researcher will find out the effectiveness of the Quipper school as one of the factors that can. This will be beneficial for some teachers to consider it as one of the new alternatives.

Research Design

Population and Sample

The researcher went to the class and gave the explanation to the students about the purpose of the questionnaire. The survey used a modify Likert Scale, in a Likert Scale modification the answer was given by students. Here is the table below which consisted of different scores and was used to give the score for each item in the questionnaire.

The data in this application aimed to determine the students' learning interest in relation to the use of Quipper School and the data analysis tool used to determine the students' learning interest in Quipper School was Mean. After determining the value for each item, the researcher then analyzed the item and used the below formula to find the value of mean from each item. Thus, the Likert scale was used for classification scores of the outcome of the data.

After analyzing the classification point above, the researcher used the formula to analyze all the data resulting in finding the classification point category. The researcher will make a description from the collection of all articles based on the data. This description portrays the reaction of students when the learning activity includes Quipper School as the main learning tool.

It will be effective because it can give easy understanding to the readers, students, teacher. The first section presents the findings on each statement aspect to answer research questions about students' interest in learning English towards Quipper School used by the Teacher in teaching English in Lab SMP School Unismuh Makassar and finally the discussions about findings from the questionnaire.

Findings

Based on the two findings above, it can be concluded that the first study that focused on students' perceptions of the Quipper School had a positive result, with students being motivated to learn through the Quipper School, as it has a large amount of material, while the second study that focused on the development of a learning management system with Quipper School also had a positive result in which students' learning cognition developed. This is consistent with the result of this study, which focused on the students' interest in learning English towards the use of the Quipper School and also had a positive result when the students were interested in the Quipper School. Although the difference between the previous studies above and this study rests on the methodology that implements the Quipper School and only sees the response of students when they learn through Quipper School.

Finally, the similarity of these researches shows that students give positive answers when the learning process implements Quipper School and thus, it can be concluded that Quipper School is an effective teaching tool used to engage students in the learning activity.

Discussion

This indicated that the students were strongly interested in learning through Quipper School because they can know the progress of their English proficiency. It indicated that the students are interested in learning English regularly if the teacher uses Quipper School in the class. So it can be concluded that Quipper School can become a great learning tool to explore various knowledge by doing.

Statement number 8: Students are interested in learning English because Quipper School can be accessed at any time. It indicated that students were highly interested in learning English at Quipper School because it can be accessed at any time. It indicated that students were able to overcome English difficulties if they used Quipper School.

It can therefore be concluded that students are not dependent on Quipper School in learning activities. So it can be concluded that Quipper School can become a great learning tool for students to revise their material. This indicated that the students are strongly interested in Quipper School material because it is updated and interesting.

So it can be concluded that Quipper School can become a great learning tool that increases students' enthusiasm in learning English. This indicated that the students were interested in learning independently or with a group using Quipper School.

Conclusion

This chapter consists of two parts, the first part deals with the conclusions of the research findings and the second part deals with the suggestions.

Suggestion

Teacher should employ to give more understanding for the use of Quipper School to students and always see the progress of students' skills through Quipper School. Ultimately, it can make students comfortable to learn English, and motivate them to study to improve their English proficiency. Using Quipper School as a learning tool to improve students' English proficiency ensures that they will be prepared to communicate with English as a common language used in the globalization era.
