REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Definition of Error And Error Analysis

They are the parts of the conversation or composition that deviate from some selected norm of mature linguistic performance.7 Something done both in speech and writing that violates the performance of language is an error. Errors are not only systematic; many of them are also universal.8 Errors are often systematic and universal, where errors that occur from the beginning are then set in the future. In this context, there is a surface strategy taxonomy regarding classification errors in the sentence.

An omission is a sentence or phrase in which there are few elements, such as the absence of tobe or auxiliary words, etc. example: "I'm tired", the example shows the sentence that Tobe is missing from the record. Misclassification errors are characterized by misplacing a morpheme or group of morphemes in an utterance.13 Misclassification by misplacing a morpheme or group of morphemes within the wrong structure within the phrase "white cat". The sources of errors are divided into: 1) interlanguage transfer, i.e. the negative influence of the learner's mother tongue, 2) intralanguage transfer, i.e. the negative transfer of things within the target language.

So as a word, the wrong generalization of the rules within the target language; 3) the learning context, which corresponds to both types of transfer, for example, the classroom with its teacher and its materials within the case of faculty learning or the social situation in the case of learning an unlearned second language.

Errors In Translating

Developmental errors occur when the learner tries to generate hypotheses about the target language based on limited experience. Translation can be a challenging job for students, as the intended meaning of the language must be considered before translating it into the target language. This means that the process of transferring the source language into the target language, which changes the thought or meaning of the source language, should be avoided.

The purpose of the translation is to find the equivalent meaning of the source language expression within the target language. Translated novels are novels that contain different languages from the first text, but carry the spirit of the original text. When translating a text, the translator's goal is an idiomatic translation that does everything possible to express their meaning of the SL text in the natural.

He further states that translation takes care of studying the lexicon, grammatical structure, communicative situation and cultural context of the text in SL, which is analyzed to determine its meaning.

English Recount Text

Interference errors occur as a result of "using elements of one language while speaking another." Narrative text can be a text that tells about past experiences or events, which will be supported by the author's personal or historical events. This kind of text is chosen as a means by which the scholars explore the history that supports their personal experience and finally convert their ideas into written form.25 Narrative text is a piece of text that retells past events, usually in the order they happened in. .26 One of the text that is learned by high school students is retelling text.

Use action verbs and circumstances such as the adverb of place and the adverb of your time to indicate the action and detailed information of events that occur in the story. 29Aditiawarman, Raflis and Yessy Marzona., Narrate text through Toontown game in high school Eksakti. This research used descriptive quantitative method because this research had to investigate the types of students' errors in translating retelling texts.

The researcher described the number of errors in the table form as the errors the students make.

Technique of Collecting

In this research, the author only focuses on the analysis of students' errors in translation from English to Indonesian at eighth grade SMPN 5 bengkulu. To know the student's mistakes, the researcher will analyze and classify their students' translation mistakes into four types. Test is the examination of a person's knowledge or abilities.36 Brown defines a test, in pure words, is a method of measuring a person's ability or knowledge in a given domain.37 It is a set of techniques, procedures and objects. which constitutes an instrument of some kind that requires performance or activity on the part of the test taker.

It is a set of techniques, procedures, and items that make up a type of instrument that requires performance or activity on the part of the tester. Interviewing occurs when researchers ask one or more participants general, open-ended questions and record or record their responses.38 The researcher then transcribes and types the data into a computer file for analysis. The interview is used by the researcher to collect data about the causes of error in the translation of English text into Bahasa Indonesia language.

The interview consists of 8 questions collected from 8 eighth grade students that were used as supporting data for this research.

Instrument of the Research

Data Analysis

Many Indonesians find English difficult to understand, and this is due to the complexity of the language itself. English is an important subject at school and is also one of the subjects of the national exam. From some of the explanations above, the author believes that error analysis plays an important role in knowing the types and causes of errors made by students in translating a text.

During daily tests or final tests, many students get lower than average English scores. Given the background questions, it is very important to limit the scope of the analysis to obtain relevant data. 5 An error is often defined as a deviation from the norms of the target language. 6 That is, an error is something that has been done that has resulted in a result that does not conform to the prevailing norms, experiencing deviations from the existing rules.

This research was conducted to find out what types of errors the second grade students of SMP PGRI 2 Ciputat make when using adjective in descriptive text writing and what causes students' error when using adjective. The difference is also that it uses the Descriptive text that it analyzes, and in this research, the research subject used the Recount text as an instrument. The latest research of Bene Florita Krisetyawati (K2205005), An Analysis of English Noun Phrase Translation Errors into Indonesian by Fifth Semester Students of English Department of the Faculty of Education 2010.
