Crossing Borders and Civic Engagement in a Changing World
The Department of American Literature, School of English, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in collaboration with the Hellenic Association for American Studies (HELAAS), and the kind contribution of the Fulbright Foundation in Greece, is organizing its Second Summer School program.
This Summer School program will take place on the School of English premises (Faculty of Philosophy, New Building, 3rd Floor) from Wednesday 29 June to Tuesday 4 July, 2016.
The Seminar offers to participants 2 ECTS for 30 hours of lectures and workshops plus a 10-hour individual workload on research projects and assignments.
The 2016 Summer School aims at responding to current crises by investigating the impact similar tensions have had on cross-cultural understanding gradually building up to recent debates about politics and ethics, pedagogy and sensitive social issues, personal narratives and mobility challenges.
We welcome applications from:
undergraduate and postgraduate students
researchers from all fields of studies
educators from primary, secondary and college education
the interested public
The Summer School program is open to everyone who wishes to deepen their understanding of current scholarly debates and research within the context of:
global geography
diasporic narratives
immigration
international relations
civic engagement and education
The language of the Summer School is English. The material to be used emerges from American Studies and current socio-cultural issues/themes.
The Summer School is divided into three thematic sections (two consecutive days per theme) to be discussed in a lecture and workshop format followed by individual or group projects.

CERTIFICATE
Certificate of attendance will be awarded to all participants plus certification of the ECTS gained.
