Supplement document. Details about KPS categorization in KOTRY data

The KOTRY database sorted KPS data into 6 categories for evaluation efficiency: 1) 80–100%, normal social activity, no specialized care required; 2) 70%, unable to work, able to live at home; 3) 50–60%, unable to work, requires occasional assistance at home; 4) 40%, unable to care for self, requires special care and assistance; 5) 20–30%, severely disabled, hospitalization needed; 6) 0–10%, moribund or death.

This categorization is in accordance with the conventional 3 -level KPS classification system of high (80–100%), intermediate (50–70%), and low (0–40%).

Additionally, the KOTRY database further divides the intermediate KPS class (50–70%) according to the need for self-care assistance (70% and 50–60%) and the low KPS class (0–40%) according to the need for hospitalization and fatality status (40%, 20–

30%, and 0–10%).
