Description of the 3 discordant cases
Case 1. The material was a core needle biopsy from the lung with a squamous cell carcinoma having more than 300 malignant cells in both specimens. PD-L1 SK006-Autostainer was scored > 50% positive
malignant cells, and PD-L1 GE006-Omnis was scored 1-49% positive malignant cells. No technical quality issues were observed for either method. Areas that had weak (+1) partial staining in PD-L1 SK006-
Autostainer were negative in PD-L1 GE006-Omnis. In PD-L1 GE006-Omnis the PD-L1 positivity was close to the upper cut-point. There were 2 slides between the 2 PD-L1 stainings. The pathologist rated the ease of scoring of the case with PD-L1 SK006-Autostainer as Level A and the case with PD-L1 GE006-Omnis as Level B.
Case 2. The material was a transbronchial biopsy from the lung with a squamous cell carcinoma having more than 300 malignant cells in both specimens. PD-L1 SK006-Autostainer was scored < 1% positive malignant cells, no technical issues were noted, and the level of ease of scoring was A. With PD-L1 GE006-Omnis, the specimen was scored 1-49% positive malignant cells. A technical issue was noted with excess of granular staining which decreased the ease of scoring to Level C. There were 4 slides between the two PD-L1 stainings.
Case 3. The material was a core needle biopsy from the lung with a squamous cell carcinoma having more than 300 malignant cells in both specimens. PD-L1 SK006-Autostainer was scored > 50% positive
malignant cells, and PD-L1 GE006-Omnis was scored 1-49% malignant cells. They were both close to 50% positive malignant cells. The PD-L1
SK006-Autostainer staining was a bit more intensive. No technical quality issues were observed for either method. The ease of score was Level B for both slides. There were no slides between the two PD-L1 stainings.
