Intan Novia Sari and Purwarno

To Fulfill the Family Needs

Although trespassing in the forest is illegal and poaching carries the harshest penalties, more people will venture into it if they have weapons. The above quote tells that Katniss has his ways of getting food by hunting in the forest. He is also from District 12 and his father died in the same mining accident as Katniss's.

Katniss also signs up for tesserae to meet her family needs, a ration of grain given in exchange for placing your name in the harvest lottery, the ceremony that determines who will be the district's representative at the Games. So now, at the age of sixteen, my name will be in the harvest twenty times. Katniss does this to meet the needs of her family so that they can get food and other necessities, but she will have more chances for the harvest in the hunger games.

But it crossed my mind that there might be something in the trash, and that was fair game.

To Protect Her Sister

She shouldn't steal, but she also doesn't want to see her mother and sister starve to death. The quote above tells how Katniss who feels sad to return home because she doesn't get any food to bring home. She knows that her family is desperate enough to eat now, but it is impossible for her to steal because all forms of theft are forbidden in District 12 and the penalty is death.

When Katniss hears that Prim will be a tribute in the Hunger Games, she feels so sad and weak. Pushing Prim behind her, Katniss says she's volunteering to take her sister's place as a tribute from District 12 to the hunger games. Katniss believes that protecting her sister from the Hunger Games is the right decision, because Katniss does not want to let her beloved sister be a tribute in the Hunger Games.

Katniss knows her sister will die if she becomes a tribute in the hunger games and she doesn't want to lose her sister.

To Win in the Hunger Games

From the quote above, it can be seen that Katniss has to fight hard to stay alive in the games. In the Hunger Games, Katniss makes an ally with Rue, a tribute girl from District 11 who reminds her of Prim. They also never know how to be hungry because the Career tributes have a quick strategy in the games.

She manages to fulfill her family needs, protect her sister and become a winner in the Hunger Games. The above discussion leads to the conclusion of this study that the main character's struggle is to fulfill her family needs, protect her sister from the Hunger Games and win in the Hunger Games. Therefore, she protects her sister's life by replacing her sister as a tribute in the game.

Moreover, she has to struggle to win in the Hunger Games because if she doesn't become a winner, she will die.

This is done because she struggles to be a good wife to her husband, even though her husband has done many cruel things to her.

THE EFFECTS OF THE CUSTOM OF FOOTBINDING ON LISA SEE'S NOVEL SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN.

THE EFFECTS OF FOOT BINDING CUSTOM IN LISA SEE’S NOVEL SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN

The Positive Effects of Foot Binding Custom Social Prestige

A person can earn prestige through his or her own achievements, which is known as achieved status, or they can be placed in the stratification system through their inherited position, which is called ascribed status. With regard to this custom, any woman who has done foot binding will surely gain a reputation in the society and generally life will be better for it. The process of Foot Binding shows that the followers of this custom will get a tall statue when the process is perfect.

Then the family of followers of this custom will get a great opportunity when their daughter gets golden lotus feet and a good husband. In this novel, the concepts of beauty are seen in society if only women bind their feet. And although I knew nothing about it at the time, my feet would be something that would hold my husband's fascination in the most private and intimate moments between a man and a woman.

From the quote, it is shown that the man will get a certain fascination with a woman who has small feet (golden lotus).

The Negative Effect of Foot Binding Custom

The negative effect is clearly visible in the form of an infection on the feet, which can disrupt health. Foot binding is no longer sustainable over time because it produces more negative effects than the positive ones.

In this chapter, the writer will analyze the protagonist's obstacles found in the novel The Hobbit. The quote above shows Bilbo arresting a troll for trying to take the purse of William, one of the trolls.

This happens in the cave when Bilbo and the thirteen dwarves are walking along the path. From the quote above, it can be seen that Bilbo and the thirteen dwarves are attacked by a goblin. But as he was patting in all his pockets, and groping all around him for matches, his hand touched the hilt of his little sword—a little dagger which he had got from the trolls, and had quite forgotten; luckily even the dwarves didn't notice it, as he wore it in his trousers.'

It deals with the stamina of the body possessed by the protagonist himself in the fight with the spider.
