Father, thank you for giving me the foundation I needed to be successful in life. To Zaynab, my strong sister, thank you for showing me the path to success. You didn't hesitate to help even during your busy schedule - You became my mentor and friend that day and I thank you for believing in me and never giving up on me.
To Nicole Chmura, code Christmas, thank you for telling me this every minute of the day. Thank you for lifting me up all the times when I was down and telling me to never give up. Thank you for accepting me exactly as I am, it has pushed me to be the best version of myself.
To my dear wife Anna, dear… what can I say but "thank you". But suffice it to say, thank you for being the best woman a man could ever ask for.

Imagine Unlimited ensures timely completion of medical construction projects with minimal disruption to staff and patient service, making it a preeminent organization in the industry. Imagine Unlimited's solution-based approach to every project has earned them a reputation for providing technical expertise through on-time delivery and using the latest machinery to create. Imagine Unlimited has a flat organizational structure, meaning that the organizational model has relatively few or no middle levels.
Imagine Unlimited's leadership team was excited about their prospects and believed that with the right planning, they could successfully navigate this phase of growth. Comfort and familiarity with the current operational terrain are the status quo at Imagine Unlimited; Imagine Unlimited facing the growth challenge without a system in place to help scale as the business grows.
The management team believes that Imagine Unlimited's culture has been pressure-tested through the management of multiple projects. Employees at Imagine Unlimited may not fully understand the organization's protocols and systemic complexities which may affect communication leading to financial loss. Shortly after we conducted this study, Imagine Unlimited hired a director of operations with the goal of bringing expertise to help develop internal operations for sustainable growth.
The leadership team members at Imagine Unlimited are aware of their challenges with internal communication. There may have been assumptions among the leadership team that existing internal communication issues were an inherent part of the company's growth. The problem/area of investigation led us as researchers to investigate the existing internal communication at Imagine Unlimited.
Imagine Unlimited's goal was to minimize the potential for errors or disruptions in quality that can occur due to ineffective internal processes and navigational insight in new and emerging markets, regional or otherwise. The purpose of this capstone was to further investigate the internal communication and productivity issues within Imagine Unlimited's departments in order to provide them with recommendations that can bridge gaps in communication and productivity. Given the focus on communication and its impact on performance, the organizational chart aligned with the cornerstone concepts as it illuminated Imagine Unlimited's understanding and organization of itself and helped partially explain its results.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of information about who the account representative is and which legal group person is representing the account, it can take several hours for such a process to be located and triaged at Imagine Unlimited. Imagine Unlimited has not developed a way to examine the learning that occurs within their teams to create a social environment that fosters growth.

For the current study, the researchers choose to focus on collecting qualitative data because it addresses the "how" and "why" of the research questions and provides a more in-depth understanding of experiences and context. During the two site visits, an initial orientation of the work site was provided by the assistant superintendent of the project. Once inside the construction site, we were shown a three-dimensional rendering of the unfinished operating room, and access to the physical construction site where we could follow the site's progress to date.
Once we were on site, the supervisor who oversaw the project management and relationship with the hospital arrived to give us a more thorough overview and review of the remaining work to be completed, who would be managing it, and specific considerations for completion. We decided to use a combination of inductive and deductive coding because of the advantages of a mixed approach that allows for flexibility in analysis, leading to important insights (Xu & Zammit, 2020). We wanted to be sure we were taking into account the experiences of employees, and using inductive reasoning allowed us to observe patterns that emerged in real time.
From this approach we were immediately reminded that qualitative research is not a linear process; rather, it begins with an interest, problem, or question. By sticking to our original research questions while remaining suspicious to the best of our ability about what we thought we were certain of, we made our original plan more robust, effective, and purposeful in principle and practice. A challenge related to the data was the role trust played in the information shared.
Although trust was an issue, we believed we could build a level of trust that would allow for candid sharing. There was also a challenge related to the unknown state of how people showed up to work on that particular day (e.g., whether they were optimistic or in a bad mood). Overall, we do not believe we faced any challenges that affected the validity of the findings, primarily because of the trust we were able to build with the CEO and Chief Operating Officer before meeting with their team.
There were challenges associated with the analysis that could affect the validity of the findings. Our connection to this study was related to a real-life situation that gave us an "insider's position" as we faced problems with colleagues who could not work effectively due to communication problems in different departments. How education and industry experience influence communication by the management team.
How do education and industry experience impact communication on the part of the leadership team?
In what ways do employees communicate within and between teams during crisis management in and between teams during crisis management in multi-layered organizations? When the hospital's leadership team contacted Imagine Unlimited with this issue, Imagine Unlimited staff were still determining who to contact to resolve this issue. The lack of direction indicates that Imagine Unlimited has internal communication problems when dealing with crisis management.
However, there should be a process for internal communication set up for crisis management situations. During non-crisis management situations, employees communicate primarily within their teams, usually talking to the person they trust most first and going from there. It is important to note that how employees say they communicate during crisis management and how overall organizational communication is perceived are two very different stories; no process and lack of communication.
For example, Dan Wilkins, a project manager and part of Imagine Unlimited's leadership team, explained that at this point, every project needs to have a consistent process for dealing with crisis management. When asked about a crisis management process, Bobby Willis said, “If there is, it will not be shared from the top down, but only at the leadership level.” It is clear from our interviews that there is a leader and a leadership style that the organization's members value.
Without this awareness, however, systemic complexity creates deeper communication silos at the department level (in the case of Imagine Unlimited), which can leave the organization feeling fractured. From internal processes to external market-driven requirements, Imagine Unlimited employees are confronted with the complexity of systems in their work and are unable to demonstrate a vision of the system and explain the protocols, processes and procedures that detail how internal departments and external affiliates collaborate in workplaces while performing essential tasks. For example, during an interview, Enterprise Solutions Manager Chase Carpenter said, "I saw the org chart at a glance, but the document is not readily available for us to refer back to online or even a soft copy," and Jake Lindsey, Sales Director, said: “The document is not available for us to view, and when changes are made to the diagram, we do not get an updated diagram showing us what the changes are and why they are being made.”.
The lack of cohesion and overarching organizational culture makes the organization feel more cohesive, resulting in better communication between departments. Nowak's (2020) study showed a positive effect of employee understanding on strategic and organizational goals. Employees' understanding of the organization's systems can become important in implementing the organization's strategic goals.
The workshop could be divided into three sections: communication skills, leadership development and Imagine Unlimited SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Olanrewaju and colleagues (2017) surveyed employees and found that 90% of their respondents indicated that they wanted their company to have a feedback system between employees and the management team because they believed it would improve communication within the organization.
