Praise be to the presence of God Almighty. For His grace and guidance, the author was able to complete the assignment of the paper entitled " Goals and principles of career counseling " on time.
Papers are prepared to fulfill the tasks of career guidance and counseling courses. In addition, this paper aims to add insight into the world of work for readers and also for writers.
The author would like to thank Dr. Afdal, S.Pd., M.Pd. as a career guidance and counseling lecturer. Thanks are also extended to all those who have assisted in the completion of this paper.

Career counseling basics
Career is a Dutch word; Carriere is the development and progress in one's work. It can also mean a level in a particular job.
Career is a job, a profession (Hornby, 1957). A person will work with pleasure and joy if what is done is in accordance with his circumstances, abilities and interests.
Conversely, if a person works not in accordance with what is in him then it is certain that he will be less passionate at work, less happy and less diligent.
According to Donal E. Super, a career is as a series of jobs, positions and positions that lead to the position of the world of work.
So, a career is a sense of love and a call to life to the work we live.
Career counseling goals
a. Fulfillment of Living Needs
In the course of this life a person has various life needs that must be physically met, including very basic life needs are: 1) clothing, 2) food and 3) boards. These three basic needs cannot be present without someone having a business that can earn income through a job and career. This means that career and work cannot be separated from the fulfillment of various life needs that are fundamental to a person.
b. Social Demands of Society
Every basic job principle is the social demands of society, meaning that more and more demands of community needs will give birth to new job and career opportunities, so that the various needs in question will all have implications for a new profession.
c. Seeking Psychological Satisfaction
Work and career are life vocations that will lead to the fulfillment of psychological needs. Various psychological stresses and other psychiatric problems will be faced by someone who does not work and has a clear career. This not only affects the psychological working person but also closely related to other family members.
d. Social Status in Society
Through a job pursued by an individual, it will give birth to confidence, improve the dignity and social status in the community. A person who has a good career and a very respected profession in society, by itself the social status of the individual will be lifted along with the profession and career he is involved in.
e. Building
The very basic purpose of a job is to prosper and prosper society. Every birth of a profession will have implications for progress and development in the life of society, nation and state.
Career counseling principles
The principles of career guidance include:
1. Career selection is more of a process than an event.
2. Career selection and adjustment begins with knowledge of the self. Individuals must understand their potential, talents, interests and abilities.
3. Career guidance should be an understanding of self.
4. Career guidance helps the understanding of the world of work and work in society.
5. Career guidance includes providing information, information about the training or education needed to acquire knowledge, various skills and patterns of behavior needed for a job.
6. Career guidance is an activity carried out by counselors in providing stimulation and career planning assistance, making decisions and career adjustments.
