THE ALFRED SUN

Vol. LXIX, No. 7, February 14, 1952 Mrs. Mary Green Baggs Mrs. Mary Green Baggs, widow of Vernon A. Baggs, died in Tolland, Conn., February 9th. She was in her 90th year.

Mrs. Baggs was born in

Independence, N.Y. June 7, 1862 and moved to Alfred as a young girl where she resided most of her life. Her husband ran a store here in partnership with Orson Greene, known as Greene and Baggs. The store was in the building now used for classrooms by the University and known as the Greene Block.

She was a member of the First Alfred Seventh Day Baptist church and was the last of the charter members of the Amandine Club.

Survivors are a daughter-in-law, Mrs.

Arthur E. Baggs with whom she made her home; also a grandson Arthur E.

Baggs, Jr. of Marblehead, Mass., and a granddaughter, Mrs. Margaret Tweet of Tolland, Conn., and two great grand children.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday in the First Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church, Rev. E. T.

Harris officiated. Burial was in the Alfred Rural Cemetery.
