INTRODUCTION
Passages Lost from the Diatessaron. — If the Diatessaron has thus been growing so as to represent the ordinary text of the canonical gospels
The Armenian text differs substantially from the regular Syriac version of the New Testament (the Peshitta) and shows a clear connection with another type of Syriac text now represented by the Curetonian and Sinaitic (Lewis) MSS. A new revision of the present translation, in the light of a more detailed study of these features, would doubtless entail changes both in the text and in the notes. It should be noted that many linguistic usages, which are briefly noted in the footnotes, are characteristic of this work, viz. compared to plain Arabic, common in Arabic versions.
