CORRECTIONS REGARDING THE

NAIVIES

OF TWO RECENTLY DESCRIBED AMPHIBIA SALIENTIA.

Ill apaper onthe Reptilia

and Amphibia

of

Gorgona

I.sland, Coloniljia (Bull. Mas.

Comp.

Zool., vol. 46, no. 5, p. 101, June, 1905), the writer described a

new

frog, towliich

by

a curiousinadvertence the

name

Pros- theraspis (i^ic)femoralis

was

given. This

name

is preoccupied

by

Pros- therapisfemoralia Boulenger, describedfromthe HuallagaRiver, northern Peru (Boulenger, Proc. Zool. Soc,

London,

1883, p. 635, pi. 57, fig.1).

Since the

Gorgona

Island species is quite distinct, it

must

thereforebe re-named, and

may

stand as Prostherapis boulenger! Barbour.

A

correction isalso tobe

made

inthe case of Cacopoidcs borealis Bar- bour, described as the type of a

new

genus

and

species ina paper on

"Some New

Reptiles

and Amphibians"

(Bull. Mus.

Comp.

Zool., vol.

50, no. 12,p. 321, April, 1908). It appears that this

must now

be con- sidered identical with Callula verrucosa Boulenger, though consideral>ly variantfromthe typeofthatspecies

and

vastly

removed

fromitinrange.

Boxilenger's specimen

came

from

Yunnan,

while that

on which

the sup- posed

new

species

was

based,was collected atAntung, Manchuria.
