" The most important method to evade this term is for the educator and course planner to guide the principles that can be implemented in some types of teaching and learning situations. Nagy and Scott mentioned word awareness as "the knowledge and arrangement necessary for students to learn, appreciate and also use words effectively," to understand the differences between formal and informal related to the way of connection, building effective arguments, and also understanding school languages. Abdul Manan (2017), in his research titled "The Implementation of Duolingo as Media to Improve Students' English Language Proficiency at IAIN Langsa." The study he conducted aims to confirm the effectiveness of Duolingo that helps the students when learning English. It was a survey research involving questionnaire.

From the table below it can be seen that the average score of the pre-test was 49.56. After conducting the pre-test and treatment without using the Duolingo app, the post-test was then conducted to measure the mean score and it was measured that the post-test score was 70.22. From the above table it is proven that in the control class the pre-test score varied from 20 to 92. 2) The post-test result in the control class.
Based on the previous table, it can be seen that the average score of the posttest was 70.22. The data analyzed was obtained from the result of the test instrument which consists of 25 questions. It can be concluded that the result of post-test in both experimental and control class was in homogeneous distribution. From the table above there were 17 students who responded strongly agree with the percentage of 45.9%, there were 17 students who responded agree with the percentage of 45.9% also and there were only three students who responded neutrally with the percentage of 8.2% for the question that says "the students like to use Duolingo Application to learn English, especially in vocabulary." It was presented on the table that none of the students who responded disagreed or strongly disagreed.
From the table above there were seven students who responded strongly agree with the percentage of 18.9%, the most response in this item was agree because there were 24 students who responded it with the percentage of 64.9% and there were six students who responded neutrally with the percentage of 16.2% for the question saying "the students were more motivated to learn English using the Duolingo application." It was shown on the table that none of the students who responded disagreed or strongly disagreed.
DATA AND DATA ANALYSIS

The data was collected from the results of the pre-test, post-test score and questionnaire administered in both the experimental and control classes. A. Score of students on pre- and post-test in the experimental class The experimental class used in this study was class VIII-1 and contained 37 students. A test was done to measure the students' performance in the vocabulary taught by using the Duolingo application. After the treatment was completed, the post-test was conducted to measure whether the Duolingo application has an effect on students' vocabulary performance by distinguishing between the pre-test and post-test score.
From the post-test that was done, it is found that the average score of the students in the experimental class increased to 82.49 and the range of the average score from pre-test to post-test was 25.19. Based on the table of pre-test and post-test scores shown on the table above, it can be concluded that there was an effect of Duolingo application on students' performance in vocabulary. From the table above it was shown that in the experimental class the mean score of post-test score was 82.49.
From the previous table above, it can be seen that the post-test result in the experimental class five students got the lowest score of 64 and five students also got the highest score of 100. It was found that the range of mean score from pre-test to post- test 20.66. The previous table shows the result of the pretest and posttest in the control class.
From the table above, it was found that the average score of the pre-test was 49.56.
Data Analysis
From the previous table, it can be seen that the entire test item is valid. Thus, the test can be used to find out the data of the students' research ability. Thus, the questionnaire can be used to measure students' perception of using the Duolingo application.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the data in the pre-test are normally distributed in both the experimental and control classes. Therefore, it can be concluded that the post-test data in both the experimental and control classes are normally distributed. Therefore, it can be concluded that the pretest distribution data in both the experimental and control classes were in homogeneous distribution, it was described in the previous chapter, in which the result of this test was 0.183 > 0.05.
The hypothesis can be concluded from the following table, in which the result of the test conducted in the experimental class was accepted, because there was an effect of using the Duolingo application on the students' vocabulary achievements. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was an effect of the Duolingo Application on students' vocabulary achievement. From the above diagram, it can be concluded that most of the students answered in the agree category and none of the students who answered disagreed or strongly disagreed in the questionnaire.
This can also be seen in their response to the questionnaire given by the researcher.
CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS
Conclusions
Based on the research conducted at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 3 Medan, especially in class VIII-1 as experimental class and VIII-2 as control class. This research aimed to know about the effect of Duolingo Application towards students' performance in learning vocabulary. Students are more interested in learning vocabulary by using Duolingo Application, it can be seen in their value before implementing Duolingo Application and after implementing it in their class.
Most of them agree that the Duolingo app can make their learning more interesting than before. The previous chapter also mentioned the statistical data in which it is possible to see if there was a difference in the value of both the experimental class that used the Duolingo application and the control class that only used a conventional technique such as memorizing the vocabulary at each meeting . In testing the hypothesis, it was presented that there was an increase in pre-tests and post-tests in each class.
Furthermore, the mean score of post-test in experimental class was higher than the mean score in control class. The average score of post-test in experimental class was 82.49, meanwhile in control class was 70.22. As the conclusion of the entire chapters, it can be interpreted that the effect of Duolingo Application on students' performance in vocabulary was significant, especially for eight-grade in MTs Negeri 3 Medan.
