The Elements of Speaking

Furthermore, because the two are intertwined, speaking cannot be separated from the aspect of listening. Understanding is defined as the ability to reason about a subject or to know exactly what a situation is like.

Speaking ability

  • Definition of speaking ability
  • Advantages of TikTok

According to (Brown, 1997), this is a threat to the future of foreign language learning and is pointless. In foreign language lessons, students must communicate in the target language by speaking and listening.

Project-Based Learning

  • Definition of Project-Based Learning
  • Characteristics of Project-Based Learning a. Centrality
  • Steps in Project-Based Learning

To be considered a PBL project, the main activity of the project must involve knowledge transformation and construction. by definition new understanding, new skills) by the learner (Bereiter & Scardamalia, 1999). If the main activities of the project are not difficult for the learner or can be completed using previously acquired information or skills, the project is an exercise and not a PBL project 4. PBL is distinguished by the design of the final product, a "Concrete Artifact" that uses video, new understanding, knowledge and relationship.

They recognized the benefits of the Roman arched bridge over the design of the successors, which did not provide enough space for those passing under. Jordan and his students set construction parameters, including strict limits on the length of the bridge and the roads over it.

Using TikTok in Project-Based Learning

Moreover, the PBL model uses a collaboration strategy, which can be interpreted as a teamwork strategy that can be used and collaborated with the learning media TikTok application. During the first meeting, students learned how to use the TikTok features used to create the video. The project implementation lasts two class periods and students choose locations in different quiet areas around the school.

The video was watched in groups, with each taking turns mentioning the vocabulary that had been defined.

Previous Study

This research also suggests that the project is still a work in progress, so this structured state should be approached as a consequence of the disaster, recognizing the importance of adaptation and flexibility. This article offers some suggestions for project team students on how to improve their project work skills. This research also suggests that the project is in the process of development, so this structured state should be approached as a result of the accident, which recognizes the importance of adaptation and flexibility.

This article provides a few recommendations for project team students on how to improve their students' project work skills. Previous research in Indonesian schools and universities has shown that using Facebook to teach English can help EFL students improve their English skills at different levels, including four areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Hyphothesis

If the t-test t-table is significant at 5%, the null hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected. It means that there is no significant difference between the speaking skills of students using TikTok and the speaking skills of students without using TikTok media among second semester students of UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu.

RESEARCH METHOD RESEARCH METHOD

Research Design

  • Population
  • Sample

The TikTok app is an educational tool used to reduce student anxiety during public speaking classes, with speaking anxiety as the dependent variable. The experimental group is taught using the TikTok application, while the control group is taught using traditional methods such as puzzles. This means that the population consists of all students at the university.

The researchers chose populations 2A and 2B based on their goal-setting approach: if the population is less than 100, then all of them should be accommodated as a class based on the second class of the available UIN Fatmawati Sukarno class.

Data Collecting Procedure

  • Pre-test
  • Treatment

To investigate the impact of the TikTok app on increasing interest in learning, the researcher would provide treatment and conduct interviews. Second, Taking the role of project designers. At this point, the researcher asks the students to have a model on TikTok as an example for them to imitate how they make a good video. Third, discussing and gathering the necessary background information. point, the researcher gives an explanation why. TikTok as a learning media is suitable for collage students to reduce their anxiety in speaking especially speaking in English and to explain to the student what are the features in TikTok that they can be used for media of Learning. Fourth, Negotiation of evaluation criteria. the researcher gives criteria for a good assignment, there are 5 criteria in speaking (grammar, fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary y,) and for the video there is an interesting presentation, interesting material, etc.

Fifth, by gathering the necessary materials, the researcher asks students to prepare materials such as mobile phone, mobile data plans, etc. Sixth, creating the project. The researcher asks students to make a video and upload it to the TikTok application for 1 week.

Research Instrument

  • Speaking test

The final test is performed after the treatment of both the experimental and control groups. The final test will determine if there is a significant difference in speaking ability between the experimental and control groups after treatment. The authors divided the results into five categories because the test is oral: pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.

In this case, testing is done afterwards using the role-playing technique. The observations in this study are intended to learn more about students and the teaching-learning process.

The Technique of Data Verification

  • Description of English Education Study Program State University for Islamic Studies of Fatmawati
  • Vision and Mission a). Vision

To ensure that the effect of the treatment was strong, Cohen's formulation about Muijs was adopted as follows. In this chapter, the researcher will present the results of the findings and discussions of the study at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu to answer research questions. Description of the Study Program for English Education Fatmawati State University of Islamic Studies Fatmawati State University of Islamic Studies Soekarno Bengkulu is one of the Islamic universities in Bengkulu province.

This college is a further development of the IAIN Raden Fatah, which was later transformed into a State Institute of Islamic Studies Bengkulu. The number of lecturers currently teaching in the English Education Studies Program was 17 lectures with Strata-2 (Master) and Strata-3 (Doctor).

Results

  • The Results of Speaking Test

The description of pretest and posttest results in experimental class students' pretest and posttest in experimental class. The total score for the students' pre- and post-test in the experimental class will be shown graphically in the appendix along with each student's progress. According to table 4.2, there were 0 students in the excellent category, 0 students in the very good category, 10 students in the good category, 7 students.

On the pre-test in the control class there were 0(0%) students in the excellent category, 0(0%) students in the very good category, 12 (60%) students. During the post-test 0(0%) students were in the excellent category, 2(10%) students were in the very good category, 9(45%) students were in the good category, 9(45%) students were in the poor category, and 0(0%) students were in the very poor category.

Analysis of Data

The results of the Smirnov test of normality for the results of students in the control class (pre-test), the results of students in the control class (post-test), the results of students in the experimental class (pre-test) and the results of students in the experimental class (post-test) are summarized in the above table (post-test). The table above describes the mean (mean) and standard deviation (standard deviation) for the results of students in the control (pre-test) and control (post-test) classes. The table above describes the mean (mean) and standard deviation (standard deviation) of the scores of students in the experimental class (pre-test) and the scores of students in the experimental class (post-test).

Paired Samples t-Test was used because the experimental class student scores (pre-test) and experimental class student scores (post-test) were normally distributed. The table above describes the mean (mean) and standard deviation (Std. Deviation) scores for the experimental class student scores and the control class student scores.

DISCUSSION

Based on the research results, the following interpretation is presented to improve the research result. The TikTok application had a statistically significant effect on students' speaking ability, according to the results. The experimental class had a higher mean post-test score of 75.47 than the control class which had a score of 61.00.

Secondly, the TikTok application gives students an opportunity to develop their speaking skills through a deeper understanding of conceptual knowledge, and they can easily persuade by speaking and memorizing the words. By any of these strategies, the students would not be bored in learning because they have not understood the monotonous process of teaching and learning in the classroom, especially in learning to speak, which those who consider it as a challenging and boring lesson.

CONCLUSION

Suggestion

As a result, a teacher should actually use Tiktok as an alternative teaching method for students. The research area of the following researcher for the teaching and learning process is extremely broad. Exploring the utility of TikTok as an educational tool.
