During the first half, Normal scored 15 points to 2 points made by the Vets., showing that Normal guards were working, as were the forwards. In the second half the Vets made desperate attempts to catch up on the score sheet, but with Charley Smidl, Shafer and Kalbfleisch making baskets from all angles, this found an impossibility. This pace, along with some excellent guarding, I. was unable to overcome and the final whistle found you on the big end of a 39 to 19 score. After holding Butler, ranked second in the ity ollegiate hampion hip, to a five- and a two-point victory during the ea on, the ~lanual 'tatc team gave Normal ea on's tough t and clo e t game, but was unable to spoil our clean late, the final core being 31 to 26. For the last game of the season Butler College got booked, !Jul to the great disappointment of all only two of their men turned up. However, a team was chosen to oppose Normal and to some extent alleviate the sadness of the biggest crowd of the season. He spent many hours coaching the men for their positions on the team, and arranging a schedule after all college teams closed their books, and in several cases he put on a uniform and helped make a few baskets shoot.
