Graduate Finds Opportunity by Going Global
When opportunity comes knocking for great career moves, Kelley School of Business students stand ready to take on the challenge- even if it takes them halfway across the world.
Bonnie Harold landed an internship with global accounting firm KPMG in Frankfort, Germany, last spring. She traveled there looking to learn a great deal about international business culture. Just a few weeks into her internship, she realized the experience had the potential to offer much more.
Harold was able to transfer her knowledge and experience into a full-time position in Germany, kicking off a frenzied few months to complete her degree and not miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime. more

Each year, the Kelley School makes a point to welcome students back in style. This year is no exception. Kicking off with the invitation-only VIP Reception, Back to Business Week 2011 offers food, fun and networking for all students to enjoy. The school will help celebrate the beginning of another academic year and help those new to campus learn what Kelley and IUPUI have to offer. Check out the schedule below and try to make time to celebrate with friends, classmates and Kelley employees.
CALENDAR OF EVENTS
Kelley VIP Reception - 5-7 p.m. on Aug. 26 in Scholars Hall at University Place. This is an event hosted to recognize and celebrate our highest caliber undergraduate students.
Northwestern Mutual, a longtime supporter of the Kelley Indianapolis accounting programs, will receive the 2011 ACCESS Award.
Charge It! - 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, BS/SPEA Hall Way Free donuts and Coffee for those who did not have time to get breakfast
Snack Attack and Networking Tips - 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2nd Floor, BS/SPEA Hallway. Grab a snack before lunch and meet some of Kelley's outstanding alums. Receive information on Kelley InCircle
Kelley Awareness Fair - 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2nd Floor BS/SPEA Hallway. This is an event co-coordinated by the school and Kelley School of Business Indianapolis Student Government (KSBISG) for students to learn more about Kelley and IUPUI clubs and resources
Dine and Dash - 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept.1, 2nd and 3rd Floors of BS/SPEA. All evening students can pick up a hot dog and chips during class breaks.
Also throughout the week a number of video clips will play throughout the building and on the Kelley Indianapolis Facebook site to provide returning students tips on a number of topics including: career planning, networking with alums, saving money on campus and getting involved in the community.

EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
Join Team Kelley in the 3rd Annual Regatta: A Canoe Race on the Downtown Canal The marquee event for IUPUI returns again on Sept. 24 as teams of students, staff, faculty and alumni gather to compete in IUPUI Regatta. This event continues to grow and never fails to please attendants and participants. Kelley supported three teams last year and a good time was had by all. Slots are going quick, however. If you are interested in registering a team, please visit the Regatta website for more information.
Operations and Supply Chain Management Club Host Guest Speaker
The club will host Joseph Gilkey, senior vice president of circulation and consumer marketing for the New York Daily News, at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, in the Campus Center. Gilkey, a graduate of Kelley Direct, will speak about the challenges of distributing a daily newspaper in the New York metropolitan area. He is responsible for ensuring papers get to subscribers among the more than 15 million residents in the area while avoiding waste and maximizing sales.

Fall 2011 Kelley Orientation
New admits to the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis should join their fellow
classmates from noon to 4 p.m. in the Lecture Hall for an orientation session with faculty and staff. New students will hear from advisors and program directors to learn what is ahead for the academic year and where to locate essential information.
