After God rejected Saul, the Spirit of the Lord left Saul and an evil spirit afflicted him. The valley of Elah was in the lowland of Judah, and the Philistines stood on the mountain on one side of the valley, while the Israelites stood on the mountain on the other side. The Philistines' champion, a nine-foot giant, challenged the Israelites morning and night for forty days.

When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled and the Israelites pursued them to the gates of the Philistine cities. The Philistines and the Israelites gathered their armies in the valley of Elah which belonged to Judah. The Philistines stood on a mountain on one side while the Israelites stood on a mountain on the other side and between them was the.

When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled, and the Israelites rose up, shouted, and pursued the Philistines to the gates of their cities.

THE FIRST COVENANT

He then formed a plan to speak to his father in the morning in the field where David was hiding. He told his father not to sin against David, because David did not sin against him. Jonathan then called David out of his hiding place and told him everything his father had said.

So Jonathan brought David back to Saul, and he was in his presence as before (1 Sam. 19:1-7). David managed to escape, but Saul sent messengers to watch David's house and kill him the next morning. Michal loved David and helped him escape by letting him down through the window.

Some time after Michal helped David escape from Saul, David met Jonathan and asked him why his father tried to kill him.

THE SECOND COVENANT. Sometime after Michal helped David escape from Saul, David met with Jonathan and asked him why his father sought to kill him

After Jonathan sent him away, he warned David regarding their plan and the two young men: (I Sam 20:41). Some time later, when David was hiding from Saul in the desert of Ziph, Jonathan came to David. In this meeting, probably the last, Jonathan admitted that David would one day become king.

Jonathan, although the son of the king, unselfishly said that David would rule over him, and he would be subject to David. The two then renewed their friendship and made a covenant with each other for the third time (I Sam. 23:15-18).

SAUL'S DEATH

There the tribe of Judah anointed David as their king and he went to Hebron. There the tribe of Judah anointed David as their king, and he reigned over Judah for seven years in Hebron (II Sam. 1-2). During this time there was a civil war between those loyal to David and the remaining descendants of Saul who were trying to seize the throne of Israel.

When the house of Saul was finally defeated, the elders of all Israel came to David and anointed him king of all Israel. The tribes of Israel were for the first time truly united, and David reigned for another thirty-three years over a united Israel and Judah (II Sam. 3-5:5). After seven years, when the elders of all the tribes came to Hebron to anoint David their king, what did they say that God had said to David.

DAVID MOVES THE ARK TO JERUSALEM

When David heard that the Lord had blessed Obed-edom because of the ark, he tried again to bring the ark to Jerusalem. What did David and all the house of Israel do when the ark was brought to Jerusalem? What did David offer to the Lord when the ark was placed in the tabernacle (tent)?

This tabernacle was not the tabernacle that was built while the children of Israel were in the wilderness. There were two rings on each side of the ark, and through these rings poles were placed so that the ark could be carried by them. The ark had to be supported by poles, only the Levites were authorized to carry the ark and anyone who touched the ark would die (Ex.

He expanded and expanded the borders of his kingdom until all the territory promised to Abraham was under his rule. But the Lord did not allow David to build a house of worship, but instead promised to make David a house. According to the prophet Nathan, the Lord said that he would raise up the seed of David, who would build a house in the name of the Lord, and the Lord would establish the throne of his kingdom forever (2 Sam 7:1-17).

Thus the promised seed of Abraham (Gen. 12:3; Gal. 3:16) would come from the house of David, and the kingdom and throne of this seed would be established forever. Although this prophecy had its immediate fulfillment in David's son, Solomon, who built the temple, the prophet was speaking of Christ, the seed of David and Abraham (Matt. 1:1) and his throne and kingdom. David, the son of Jesse from the tribe of Judah, was the ancestor of Jesus Christ (Mat. 1:1-17).

God promised to establish the throne of David's kingdom forever, and the prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. He was a religious leader who planned and prepared the construction of the temple and organized the worship service.

ADONIJAH PROCLAIMS HIMSELF KING (I Kings 1:1-10)

First, Bathsheba went to David and reminded him that she had promised him that her son Solomon would be king after him. While she was still speaking, Nathan went to David and informed him that Adonijah was at that moment celebrating and his guests were proclaiming him king (I Kings 1:11-31). The altar of burnt offering, built in the wilderness, had horns at each of its four corners.

Whether this altar was built in the wilderness or another altar, it was in the tent containing the ark that David brought to Jerusalem (2 Sam. 6:1-19). Adonijah fled to this place of worship, believing that the altar would provide him with safety and protection. Although the altar was considered a place of refuge, the law of Moses specifically stated that a murderer who sought asylum there was to be removed from the altar and executed (Ex. 21:14).

SOLOMON'S JUDGMENT

What the woman determined first thing in the morning when she examined the dead child on her arm. As the two women argued back and forth about the living child and the dead child, Solomon asked what. His greatest achievement was the temple, a permanent place of worship, which was built in Jerusalem according to the plans that his father David received from God.

Solomon spent seven years building the temple, which was built of stone and was twice the size of the tabernacle, the mobile tent that the Israelites had built in the wilderness. Solomon's temple faced east and contained a holy place and a most holy place, just like the tabernacle. The furnishings of the temple were similar to those of the tabernacle, but on a much larger scale. fifteen feet) in diameter with a capacity of approximately 10,000 gallons; the sea stood in the likeness of twelve oxen: three toward the north, three toward the west, three toward the south, and three toward the east; the sea was in the southeast of the court; the sea was for washing the hands and feet of the priests c.

When the temple was completed, the priests and Levites brought the ark into the temple. They also brought from Gibeon the tabernacle that had been built in the wilderness on the mountain. God appeared to him a second time and told him, if he would walk like David his father in honesty of heart and justice and keep the statutes and commandments, he would set the throne of his kingdom over Israel.

Although Solomon's greatest building project was the temple, he also built: a royal palace; the house for Pharaoh's daughter, the women's quarter; throne porch, audience hall for justice; the porch or hall of pillars, the place of the promenade and vestibule to the court-room; and the House of Lebanon, the armory where Solomon placed his 300 shields of hammered gold. Below is a diagram showing the possible layout of the temple complex and royal buildings built by Solomon.

THE QUEEN OF SHEBA

David was a great warrior and expanded the borders of the kingdom of Israel and conquered and subjugated the surrounding nations.

S OLOMON'S W IVES - A HIJAH'S P ROPHECY

The Lord was angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel. God's first appearance to Solomon in Gibeon in a dream at night: if you walk in my ways to keep my statutes and commandments as your father David walked, then I will want your days. God's second appearance to Solomon at the dedication of the temple: if you walk before me as your father David walked, in uprightness of heart and uprightness, to keep my statutes and commandments, then I will establish your kingdom over Israel confirmed forever.

Because Solomon had not kept God's covenant and statutes, for the third time God said that he would give the kingdom to Solomon and give it to his servant. One day in a field outside Jerusalem, the prophet Ahijah met one of Solomon's servants, Jeroboam, from the tribe of Ephraim. Ahijah was wearing a new robe, but he tore the robe into twelve pieces, each piece representing a tribe of Israel.

He gave Jeroboam ten pieces and told him that God would tear the kingdom away from Solomon and give him (Jeroboam) ten tribes to rule. Solomon's son would receive one tribe (two tribes, I Kings 12:21) so that David would always have a lamp before the Lord in Jerusalem. Jeroboam would be king over Israel (the ten northern tribes) and if he kept God's laws and commandments, God would do something.
