Because the logical semantic relation explains the relation of the sentences, the researcher analyzes it in complex sentences. Second, the researcher described how logical-semantic relationships affect the meaning of the complex clauses contained in the novel. Furthermore, this research will analyze how semantic logical connection can affect the meaning of sentences.
Research Focus
Moreover, in this novel there are clause complexes that can be analyzed. After the researcher did a review of five previous studies, the researcher found that the other researcher had researched about logical-semantic relations, but most of them researched to analyze the extension of logical-semantic relations and taxis. Based on the above explanation, the researcher is interested in conducting a content analysis research entitled "Analysis of logical semantic relations" in the novel "Meet Me in Istanbul".
Statements of The Problem
Objectives of The Study
Significances of The Study 1. Theoretical Significance
For teachers, the result of this study is that it can help the teachers to carry out the teaching and learning activities in the teaching of English, especially the projection and expansion of logical-semantic relations in Systemic Functional Linguistics, by using an appropriate example in the English class. Educators can teach students about logical-semantic relations in SFL by using sentences or sentence complexes of text commonly found by humans. In another way, it may be better if the teacher teaches it by making the students understand the concept and giving an example of sentence complexes that indicate logical-semantic relations that are commonly used by people.

Previous Research Findings
The aim of her study is to describe the types of logical semantic relations used in Mendez's statements and to explain how logical-semantic relations (unmarked and marked) are used in Mendez's statements.95 The agreement between the previous research and this research, both studies analyzed clause complexity based on the perspective of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). The title is "An Analysis of Expansion at Logico-Semantic Relation in Soekarno's Speech Entitled "Building a New World" The purpose of the study is to analyze the Logico-Semantic Relation that Soekarno used in his speech.
It focuses on analyzing expansion (deepening, broadening, improvement) by Logico-Semantic Relation used in his speech.96 The similarity between the previous research and this research are both studies that analyze the complexity of the clause based on the perspective of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). 96 Kayanti, "An Analysis of Expansion at Logico-Semantic Relation in Soekarno's Speech entitled "Building a New World", 3. The purpose of the study is to identify the types of logico-semantic of clause complexes and how logico-semantic realized in the VOA news .98 The similarity between the previous research and this research are both studies that analyze clause complexity based on the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) perspective.
Of these five previous studies, the difference with this research is that this research analyzed a novel while the others did not. Furthermore, this research only dealt with the logical-semantic relationship, while previous studies focused on other aspects such as taxis and markings. Moreover, some previous studies have focused on only one type of logical-semantic relations.
Meanwhile, this research focused on both types of logical-semantic relations (projection and extension).
Theoretical Framework
The qualitative method was used in this study because this method was used to describe and analyze the data that was systematically selected and the process of analyzing the data was analyzed descriptively. The qualitative method was used in this study because the research problems can be solved by analyzing and describing the collected data. The reason was that the steps of content analysis technique include finding symbols, classifying data based on symbols and analyzing the data.
It was a type of research that aimed to show the facts and the results of experts' thoughts by searching, analyzing, interpreting and generalizing the results. This design was suitable for this study because the researcher searched the data on logical-semantic relationships in SFL and found the clause complexes in a novel entitled Meet Me in Istanbul that indicated the logical-semantic relationships.
Data Source
Technique of Data Collection
Technique of Data Analysis
Researcher found the clause complexes that indicated the logical-semantic relation from the novel titled "Meet me in Istanbul" by underlining the sentences. Researcher classified the clause complex based on the types of projection in logical semantic relation (idea and location). Researcher classified the clause complex based on the expansion types (elaboration, expansion and enhancement).
After that, the researcher analyzed the dominant and the rarest type of logical-semantic relationship in the novel. The research background of this study was to analyze the logicosemantic relationship of a novel titled "Meet Me in Istanbul". The researcher chose logical-semantic relation because it described the relation between some clauses in a sentence.
In fifty-seven pages of the novel, some sentences indicated the type of projection and expansion.
Finding
There were three clause complexes, each using 'thinks', 'thinking' and 'don't think'. In this novel there were one hundred and forty-nine sentences or sentence complexes in which these words were used. Finally, there was the word 'whispered' which indicated the idea type in six sentences or sentence complexes.
Each of them was found in only one sentence out of all clause complexes in the novel "Meet in Istanbul". Out of all the pages of the novel, there were one hundred and fifty-eight clause complexes that were shown as types of projection. Of all the clause complexes in this novel that were analyzed by the researcher, there were two hundred and thirty clause complexes that showed types of expansion (elaboration, expansion and expansion).
The researcher presented in the table that twenty-eight clause complexes are marked as an elaboration type of expansion in the logico-semantic relationship. From Table 4.5, the researcher presented one hundred and fifty-five clause complexes that were labeled as expansion types of expansion in the logical-semantic relationship. In the novel, the researcher found that forty-seven sentence complexes indicate an extensional type of extension in the logical-semantic relationship.
From fifty-seven pages of the novel titled "Meet Me in Istanbul", there were two hundred and thirty clause complexes indicated as an expansion type projection.
Discussion
The idea is the rarest type of logical-semantic relation that appears in the novel "Meet me in Istanbul. The following are examples of saying a procedure or an expression that appeared in a novel called "Meet Me in Istanbul": .. he said to the driver. g) "Turkish sultans lived in Topkapi Palace." Elaboration was another rare type of logical-semantic relation that appeared in the novel "Meet me in Istanbul".
In the example above, the word "that" was used as a conjunction to explain more about what Tom saw in the second sentence. e). In this case, the word "what" was a conjunction that repeated .. something" in the first sentence. From the example, the word "what" specified "something" that the subject will "find out" in the first sentence. f) He works for a small company .. which is starting to export to England.
Expansion was the most common type of logical-semantic relationship that appears in the novel "Meet Me in Istanbul". The only character used in the extension from the novel was a comma (,).. From the example it was in d). From the example above, the word "as" was a conjunction to explain "something that happened at the same time", which is "the plane continued its journey across Europe". b).
The example above meant that "The room was quiet" and at the same time "Tom was reading the reports". h). The first is "they slowed down" and "they" do so until "the Mercedes had turned the corner", after which they "speeded up". They were the comma (,) and the word "and". The example was the type of time at different times.
Recommendations 1. For students
In the logic of the semantic relation, the conjunction has the function of a signal that can identify the type of relation. The researcher suggests another researcher to carry out a logical semantic relationship with the development of the English level of the subject under analysis. This can be a new experience with the analysis of the logico-semantic relationship at a higher level of English.
In addition, it can be more interesting because another researcher can find more signs or words that are marked as elements of a logical semantic relationship.
