The role of teachers in overcoming students' difficulties in reading comprehension in MA Al-Islam Islamic Ponorogo. Factors that caused students' problems with reading comprehension are divided into two types: intrinsic and extrinsic factors.

Theoretical Framework

From the previous research above, the gap between the previous studies the researcher discussed the factors that became students' difficulties in reading comprehension and knowing the solutions of these problems. Descriptive qualitative method is a research method based on the philosophy of postpositivism that is used to examine the state of natural objects (as opposed to the experiment) where the researcher is the instrument, the main data collection technique is carried out in triangulation (combined), data analysis is inductive/qualitative in nature, and the results of qualitative research are more emphatic about meaning than generalization. This is a qualitative study as the data comes in the form of numbers rather than words.

Researchers used descriptive approaches to investigate "Teacher's Role in Overcoming Students' Difficulties in Reading Comprehension at MA Al-Islam Islamic Ponorogo".

Research Setting

The researcher's presence in the field as a full observer whose status is known as a researcher of the subject.

Data and Data Source

Interviews were used by the researcher to find data related to intrinsic and extrinsic factors and solutions to students' problems with reading comprehension. Observation is essentially an activity that uses the five senses: sight, smell and hearing, to obtain the information needed to answer a research problem. Observations are used as supporting data to search for intrinsic, extrinsic factors and solutions to students' reading comprehension problems.

Documentation is a way of collecting data such as notes, books or other things that can add information about the phenomenon under study. According to Donald, documentation is a set of written, visual, and physical materials that include the author's artifacts.76 In this study, researchers used documentation to collect information related to students' reading comprehension difficulties, such as photographs during learning activities, archival notes related to this support and interview results, documentation. The documentation is used as supporting data to find intrinsic, extrinsic factors of the student's reading comprehension difficulties.

Research Procedure 1. Pre-research

The story of the establishment of "Al-Islam" Islamic Boarding School located in the village of Joresan, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency, East Java was motivated by a crisis in the quality of life of Indonesian Muslims, especially in Ponorogo in the 1960s. This condition has raised concerns among Joresan community leaders to publish educational institutions. Eleventh grade students at MA Al Islam Joresan Ponorogo always bring their own dictionary in learning English.81.

Hasbullah Joresan Mlarak Village which is in line with the Haul memory of the late Kyai Muhammad Thoyyib, the founder of Joresan Village. The second meeting was in the house of one of the leaders of NU Mlarak KH. Due to the growing development of students and founding figures who had busy lifestyles, this situation raised the concern of the ulama who were members of the deputy branch of the Nahdlatul Ulama District Majlis (MWC-NU) Mlarak, which was then headed by KH.

Imam Syafa'at of Gandu Village, Mlarak District, Ponorogo Regency to include and maintain the continuity of the above educational institutions.

Moreover, when working on questions, students repeatedly had difficulty understanding the meaning of the questions and some of them asked the teacher about the meaning of the questions. From the above statement, it can be seen that the strategy used by the teacher to overcome students' difficulties in reading comprehension is DRTA. Each student has their own dictionary and if they are having trouble with the vocabulary, they go there and look.

The dictionary is one of the tools students use to overcome difficulties in finding the meaning of a vocabulary word in a text. Class as the main place of learning should be made as comfortable as possible and add references to English books in the library.133. From the findings above, the researcher can conclude that the classroom used by the 11th grade students of MA Al Islam Joresan was less effective and conducive to learning.

MA English teacher Al Islam suggests creating a conducive classroom atmosphere and adding English reference books.

Discussion

The data analysis intrinsic factor that cause students' difficulties in reading comprehension faced by eleventh grade of MA Al Islam

From the description of the data above, the researcher can conclude that limited vocabulary knowledge is one of the intrinsic factors that cause students' problems with reading comprehension. The lack of fluency is one of the intrinsic factors that cause students to struggle to understand reading. From the data above, the researcher can conclude that a lack of familiarity with the subject is one of the students' intrinsic factors in understanding reading texts.

So that the difficulty of the text (readability) becomes one of the factors that influence students' reading problems. From the above data, it can be concluded that the use of effective reading strategies that are inadequate is one of the intrinsic factors that cause students to have difficulty in reading comprehension. From this, the researcher concludes that weak verbal reasoning is one of the factors that causes students to experience problems in reading comprehension.

Based on the above data, difficulty in recalling information after reading is one of the factors that cause students' difficulties in reading comprehension.

The data analysis extrinsic factor that cause students' difficulties in reading comprehension faced by eleventh grade of MA Al Islam

Data analysis the external factor that causes students' reading comprehension difficulties faced by the eleventh grade of MA Al Islam. In addition, the learning environment at school can also contribute to students' learning reading comprehension issues. In addition, the library at MA Al Islam Joresan is not very supportive for learning English, especially for reading comprehension.

Furthermore, regarding the influence of friends such as friends that can make other students become triggers to be able to. Apart from that, one of the teachers stated that the hours given here for English are also lacking. From the data above, it can be concluded that the school environment is one of the factors that influence students' problems with reading comprehension.

The different learning styles of each student ensure that school environmental factors as a whole do not pose a problem for students.

The analysis teacher’s solution to overcoming students difficulties in reading comprehension

In addition, the solution given by the teacher to overcome inadequate school conditions in the learning process is to make the classroom atmosphere more comfortable. The solution given by the teacher is to add references to English books, especially reading books to support English learning. From the explanation above, it can be concluded that the solution given by the teacher to overcome inherent factors that cause students' difficulties in reading comprehension is used is DRTA strategy in teaching English at MA AL Islam, bring dictionary in English lesson.

Some intrinsic factors cause students to struggle with reading comprehension in the eleventh grade of MA Al Islam Joresan Ponorogo in the academic year 2022/2023. Extrinsic factors cause students to have difficulty with reading comprehension in the eleventh grade of MA Al Islam Joresan Ponorogo in the 2022/2023 academic year and come from their school environment. Intrinsic factor is the solution to use reading comprehension in teacher strategy. The strategy is the DRTA (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) strategy, bring a dictionary.

While in the external factor, the solution from the teacher is to build a comfortable atmosphere in the classroom and add references to an English book, especially reading English in a library.
