Analysis of the writing task of the English textbook Buku Interaktif Bahasa Inggris for the tenth grade students of Senior High School, published by Intan Pariwara. The English Language Teaching (ELT) textbook, which contains the source of the learning material and takes into account the current curriculum, is extremely important in language teaching and learning. The purpose of this study is to describe the writing task presented in the textbook as proposed by Nation, and to find out whether the writing task presented in the textbook meets the criteria for writing task as proposed by Nation.

The data and data source are material of writing task served in textbook, and documentation. In collecting the data, the researcher compares method and theory and then analyzes the document by choosing the writing task served in the textbook. The calculation of the result in the data analysis was given in each criteria according to Nation.

Furthermore, the textbook compliance analysis showed that this textbook is categorized as a sufficient textbook with a total percentage of 55.55% for the country.

According to Ellish, in Nunan a task is a plan of work that requires students to process language pragmatically so that results can be evaluated in terms of whether the correct or appropriate proportional content is conveyed.7 Students can earn many tasks through learning. media such as textbooks. A textbook is a textbook of a given subject, which is included in the standard textbook compiled by experts in that subject for learning meanings and objectives, which is equipped with teaching aids that are compatible and understandable by users in schools and faculties so that it can support any teaching program. 9 The textbook has a function in the teaching-learning process. How is the writing task in the English text titled Buku Interaktif Bahasa Inggris for Grade Ten High School Students Published by Intan Pariwara based on Paul Nation's theory.

THEORETICAL BACKGROUND

Textbook

Some teachers are interested in using this book because they find it easy to use. It focuses on syllabus and exams. f) Some teachers are interested because it seems easy to use. This type of book is usually used by students as a textbook to study in school because this book has the characteristics that students need.

Is there a well-developed curriculum that describes the objectives, curriculum and content of the program or will this be determined by the textbook. Will a book or series of textbooks form the core of the program or will it be one of several different books that will be used. The role of textbooks is very important in helping teachers and students in the teaching and learning process.

Writing

The other general concept of writing, as Paul Davies states, is that writing is probably the language skill least used by most people in their native language. Even in the most “advanced” societies, a significant percentage of the adult population struggles to write. From the above definitions, the writer can conclude that writing is a way of producing language that comes from our thoughts.

More often, using writing as a means of evaluating students' mastery of content or of the written form. The social prestige of the written language is probably derived from the added functions that a written variety can fulfill for a society:38. It allows for record keeping in a form independent of the memories of those keeping the record and capable of being checked and consulted by many different people.

It can be carefully planned and revised by the writer in a way that spoken language cannot. The purpose of writing is not only to increase knowledge but also to create literary works.

Writing Task

Experience tasks are tasks where the learners already have much of the knowledge needed to carry out the task. The teacher gives the topic of the composition and then the learners discuss in their groups and make a list of the main ideas they will write about. Then the teacher brings the class together and, following the learners' suggestions, makes a list of the main ideas on the blackboard.

Students correct their copies by looking at the marked copy when the teacher returns it to them. When the composition is marked, students correct their copy from the marked one. Grading is usually easy, as students correct most mistakes themselves before handing in the composition to the teacher.

This usually results in limiting the task the students have to perform. By means of . By answering the questions using the image, students can write a composition.

The English textbook titled Buku Interaktif Bahasa Inggris provided 3 types out of 5 types of tasks Experience; as follows: Draw and write (there is 1 writing task activity provided related to matching and writing in the textbook. Group class composition (there are 2 writing task activities provided related to group class composition . Compatibility of writing tasks provided in Buku Interaktif Bahasa Inggris textbook with criteria for writing assignment as suggested by Paul Nation.

Based on the table above, the researcher shows in percentages whether the tasks that are in the textbook meet the criteria of a written task as suggested by Paul Nation. Thus, the result of the writing task presented in the Buku Interaktif Bahasa Inggris textbook is classified as "sufficient" in developing writing skills for upper secondary students. The analysis of the writing task presented in the textbook Buku Interaktif Bahasa Inggris is based on the writing task criteria proposed by the Nation.

The writing task presented in the textbook in terms of experience task is dominated by linked skills tasks, which consists of seven tasks. Linked skills tasks are the most common types of fluency tasks. The writing task presented in the textbook in terms of shared tasks is dominated by group composition, consisting of 3 tasks. Other types of writing tasks in the sense of the shared task given in a textbook are reproduction exercises (1 task), group lesson composition (2 tasks), and writing with a secretary (1 task).

The written task provided in the textbook in terms of directed task is dominated by the complementary sentence in which 14 tasks are presented. Out of 27 writing tasks suggested by Nation, only 15 criteria of writing tasks in Buku Interaktif Bahasa Inggris textbook for class X. This shows that the writing task given in Buku Interaktif Bahasa Inggris textbook class X is classified as "Sufficient". .

Suggestion

In teaching the learning process, English teachers should be able to choose the best English textbooks and select tasks that can be used to improve the communication between students and teachers. In order to teach the students, the English teacher must be active and creative to give the material to the students. Therefore, this may be a new discovery that improves students' motivation to learn English through experimental research.
