Retirement Reception for Wilfred Huang
Wilfred Huang will be retiring at the end of the academic year after 33 years of dedicated service to Alfred University.
There will be a reception to celebrate Wil's retirement on Thursday, April 28 from 2:30 - 4 P.M. in the Olin 4th floor Conference Room. Please join us in wishing him well.

The Bergren Forum sponsored by the Division of Human Studies, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Provost's Office will be meeting at 12:10 P.M. Thursday, April 28 in the Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center.
Bring a brown bag lunch; coffee and tea will be provided.

Topic: "Drawn to Diversity Turns 10: AU social justice activists impact beyond Alfred."
Dan Napolitano, Director of Student Activities, will discuss the achievements of the DTD program which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Concert: Jazz Band
The AU Jazz Band will perform in the Miller Theater on Friday, April 29, 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a wide variety of crowd-pleasing jazz, including bebop, Latin, and funk. This is sure to be an exciting
performance....don't miss!
Selections include classics such as "Come Fly With Me" and "Autumn Leaves," as well and new and modern funk, rock, bop and Latin pieces!
Admission is free and open to the public.

AU Color Run/Walk This Saturday!
The 5K Color Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, April 30. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and the 5K run/walk begins at 9. The run/walk will begin and end at the Alfred Village Bandstand.
Entry Fees:
$5 for students (K-college)
$15 for community members

Mud Olympics will be on Hot Dog Day (April 30) at 2 p.m. by Merrill Field. The sign-up sheet is now available!
Cost is $25 per team and forms are due April 22 and can be turned into CSI (Center for Student Involvement).

Carillon Recital on Hot Dog Day
The Hot Dog Day carillon recital on Saturday, April 30 will be played by Alfred native and AU alum from the Class of '74 Doris Burzycki Aman from Webster, NY.
While a student at AU, Doris learned to play the carillon under the guidance of Dr. Melvin LeMon and Frank P. Law of Valley Forge, PA. Now Doris teaches carillon at the U of R and serves as adviser to the UR Carillon Society, a student group that promotes the Hopeman Carillon and recruits and mentors students to play the bells for the campus.
Guest are welcome to climb the stairs to the top of the tower and watch the performer. The one-hour recital begins at 4 p.m.

Student Recital this Sunday in Howell Hall
This Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m., students will perform in Howell Hall. On the program are singers Richard DeFabrizio, Nickolette Jones, Kaitlyn Tepper, Chloe Theodosiou, Julia Duncan, Peter Hosford, Niki Kimball, Julianne Yendall, Rachel Romack, Delaney O'Hare, and Elaine Kalinowski.
Bassist Max Mustardo will perform, as will pianists Theresa Kenney, Wanrui He, and Ahyoung Kang.
Cellists to perform are Theresa Kenney, Brandon Miller and Tomer Amon. Kellin Jansen on viola and Dr. Lisa Lantz on violin will perform the first movement of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6.
Accompanists are Laurel Buckwalter, Peter O'Connor, Mary Weimer, and Abby Schmeichel.
All are invited to this free event.

Drum Set and Percussion Lessons are available from Dr. Vicki Eaklor and Dustin Woodard for the Fall Semester. Lessons are available for 30 minutes (Beginner) and 1 hour (Advanced) per week.
Please feel free to sign up for any of the 106 sections or either of the 306 sections. Everyone is welcome to sign up for either section no matter what your skill level is.

Airgas will be on campus Friday, May 13 to do a full audit of our gas tank inventory. Please prepare your areas accordingly.

Author Visit at the Box of Books Library
Thursday, April 28 Susan William Beckhorn will share her slideshow The Story of a Storyteller and will surprise writers of all ages with some of the absolutely essential, but perhaps unexpected items from her Writer's Toolbox.
Ms. Beckhorn will be holding two presentations: 4 p.m. Children's Program and 6 p.m .Adult program for those interested in illustration, creative writing, and publishing.

Allegany Senior Foundation - Swingin' to the Oldies Gala
Tickets are now being sold for the Allegany Senior Foundation's 6th Annual Swingin' to the Oldies Gala!
This year it is Saturday, May 21, 4 to 9 p.m., at the Alfred State College Activities Center, Wellsville.
We will have dinner from L'Italia - served at 5:30 p.m., dancing to Jazz Ninjas, and a basket auction.
Tickets are $15 each or 4 for $50 and are available from any Allegany Senior Foundation member, from Cara at the Allegany County Office for the Aging Front Desk, or by calling the OFA Office at 585.268.9390.
We are also looking for basket donations and sponsors. All proceeds goes to Meals on Wheels in Allegany County.
