Many people go on vacation to relax, enjoy the beach, camping, or swimming.
2. History and Culture
People often visit historical places, museums, or cultural sites to understand the heritage and history of a place.
3. Natural attractions
Exploring nature such as mountains, forests and national parks is a destination for nature lovers.
4. Culinary Tourism
Traveling to try typical foods and dishes of a region or
country.

Traveling for educational purposes, such as conferences or academic meetings.

Attend entertainment events such as concerts, festivals, or sporting events.

Forms & Classification of Tourists
What are the forms & classifications of tourists?
Tourists classification based on the level of organization of the tour (Cohen, 1972)
• Drifters
Tourists who want to visit the same area once unknown to him, who traveled in small numbers
• Explorer
Tourists who travels by organizing his own journey doesn’t want to follow the tourist roads that are already common but are looking for something new or uncommon.

• Individual Mass Tourists
traveler who leaves his/her travel arrangements to a travel agent, and visits well-known tourist destinations.
• Organized Mass Tourists
tourists who only want to visit well-known tourist destinations, with facilities that can be found in their place of residence and always guided by a tour guide.
Tourists Classification Based on the Nature of Travel and the Scope of Travel
• Foreign Tourist
Foreigners who travel (WNA) are foreigners who travel for tourism, by coming to enter another country that is not the territory of their home country.
• Foreign Domestic Tourist
Domestic foreign tourists are foreign tourists who reside in a country and then make tourist trips in the territory of the State where they are. The tourist is not a citizen but because of his duty and position settled and lived in the country.
• Domestic Tourist
Domestic tourists are domestic tourists who travel within the borders of their own country, Domestic tourists in Indonesia are more familiarly referred to as Local Tourists.
• Foreign Domestic Tourist (Indigenous Tourist)
Foreign domestic tourists are citizens of a particular country, who due to their duties abroad, return to their home country and travel within the territory of their home country
• Transit Tourist
Transit tourists are tourists who are traveling on a tour that usually uses air ships or ships or trains that are forced to stop at a port, airport or station not of their own accord.
• Business Tourist
Business travelers are people (both foreigners and nationals) who travel not for the purpose of tourism.

The Modern Idealist Tourists, tourists with a strong interest in multinational culture and individual exploration of nature.

Idealistic Traditional Tourists, tourists who are
interested in traditional socio-cultural life and appreciate the touch of nature that is not too mixed by the flow of modernization.

Traditional Materialist Tourists, tourists who have aconventional outlook, considering affordability, cheapness and safety.
