Get to Know About Your Access Point

The TP-Link N multi-mode wireless access point is designed to establish or expand a scalable high-speed wireless N network or to connect an Ethernet-enabled device such as a game console, digital media adapter, printer or network connection. storage device to the wireless network. The AP supports a multitude of different features that make your wireless networking experience more flexible than ever before. Now you can enjoy a better internet experience when downloading, playing games, streaming video or any other application you might want to use.

The access point's LEDs (view from left to right) are located on the front panel. On/Off This light stays on for 2 minutes when a WPS connection is established, then turns off. ETHERNET One LAN 10/100Mbps RJ45 port connects to a network device, such as a switch or a router.

If your client devices, such as wireless adapters, support Wi-Fi Protected Setup, you can press this button to quickly establish a connection between the access point and the client devices and automatically configure wireless security for your wireless network.

Connect the Hardware

Place the access point in a place where it can be connected to various devices as well as a power source. There are five operating modes supported by this access point: Access Point, Repeater, Bridge with AP, Client and Multi-SSID. In access point mode, the access point transforms your existing wired network into a wireless network.

Turn on the access point, wait until the power ( ) and wireless ( ) lights are on and steady, and use the default SSID and password printed on the access point's label to join its Wi-Fi network. In Repeater mode, the access point extends the range of an existing Wi-Fi network. In Bridge with AP mode, the access point connects two local networks wirelessly.

In Multi-SSID mode, the access point creates multiple wireless networks to provide different security and VLAN groups. Turn on the access point, wait until the Power ( ) and Wireless ( ) LEDs are lit and stable, and use the default SSID and password printed on the label of the access point to connect to its Wi-Fi network.

Set Up Internet Connection Via Quick Setup Wizard

The Quick Setup Wizard will guide you through the process of setting up your access point. Either customize your wireless network name and wireless password or keep the defaults, then click Next. Select the LAN IP type of the access point or leave the default setting Smart IP for most cases, and then click Next.

Move the access point about halfway between the host's AP and the Wi-Fi dead zone. Click Survey to find your host network, enter the host network password in the Wireless Password field. In the Local Wireless Setting section, either customize your Local Wireless Name and Wireless Password or keep the defaults, and then click Next.

Connect your wireless devices to the Wi-Fi network using the access point's SSID and password. Connect your wireless devices to the different Wi-Fi networks to be isolated by VLANs.

Configure the Access Point

System Up Time - The length of time since the access point was last powered on or reset. The WPS function cannot be configured if the wireless function of the access point is disabled. When working in Repeater or Client mode, the access point's WPS function is disabled.

Follow one of the following three methods to connect your client device to the Wi-Fi hotspot network. If the client device has been successfully added to the access point's network, a success message will appear on the WPS page. Keep the WPS status as enabled and get the current PIN of the access point.

Enter the current access point PIN on your client device to join the access point's Wi-Fi network. If you select Smart IP(DHCP), the access point's DHCP server will not start. Default Port (optional) - It is suggested to enter the IP address of the access point's LAN port.

Go to DHCP > DHCP Client List to view the information of the clients connected to the access point. Assigned IP - The IP address that the access point assigned to the DHCP client. Go to Wireless > Wireless Statistics to check the data packets sent and received by each client device connected to the access point.

This causes the access point to continuously ping a user-specified IP address (it can be an Internet gateway, for example). If it cannot ping below the user-defined limits, the access point will automatically reboot. Delay - The time delay before sending the first ping packet when the access point reboots.

Download the latest firmware file for the access point from our website www.tp-link.com. Go to System Tools > Password and you can change the factory default access point username and password. Go to System Tools > System Log and you can view access point logs.

After the reset, all previous configurations will be cleared and the access point will be reset to the default access point mode.
