Based on the above background, the researcher conducts a research titled "The Influence of Using Duolingo Application on The Students Writing Skills of The Eleventh Graders at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung East Lampung". 34;Is there any positive and significant influence of using the Duolingo application on the students' writing ability of the eleventh grade students at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung East Lampung?". Based on the problem formulation above, the researcher seeks to find out whether there is an influence using The Duolingo Application on Students' Writing Ability of the Eleventh Graders at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung, East Lampung.

From all the above statements, the researcher concludes that writing is one of the skills in English to convey ideas, feelings, and thoughts from the mind of the researcher arranged in words, sentences, and paragraphs using the eyes, hands, and brain , as information for the reader. So when someone reads the paragraph, they get some information about the topic itself. Narrative is a form of paragraph development in an essay or paper that describes a series of events from time to time in a certain order, starting from the beginning, middle to the end.

Thirdly, the researcher should think about the structure of the content of a work, how to properly arrange facts, ideas or arguments that will be included in the writing. Other readers' reaction to the article will help the author make appropriate revisions. In teaching writing, students are prescribed a set of predetermined tasks or exercises. There are several categories in assessment writing namely content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanics.10.

Concept of Duolingo Application as Artificial Intelligence

It can be considered to fall under the category of Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL), which itself can be categorized as a branch of ICT called M- (or Mobile) Learning.14. In addition, Duolingo offers vocabulary practice and gives students the opportunity to evaluate their knowledge and identify the need to keep improving.15 This means that Duolingo is present as an educational tool that can be integrated into the classrooms in order to create a new learning experience for students, and it is based on quality content, feedback and motivation. So, the Duolingo app is important for students to learn languages ​​to increase their motivation and make this app more fun.

In addition, students who need to develop their vocabulary can use the application Duolingo, which is useful and interesting to use. The Duolingo application rewards them with surprise sounds and unique images and makes students feel more comfortable. In addition, students can also use the Duolingo application to understand the meaning of the word.

In the classroom, the teacher can start the class to give the materials based on the English book and how to use the Duolingo application. After that, the students can start using the Duolingo application, and they choose the subject that can be taught or they can choose the subject themselves. It may be because Duolingo incorporates a gamification aspect into learning with it, it can motivate and engage students in learning with Duolingo.

The material that learns for play is usually difficult to forget, it may be because the learners enjoy learning.

Is there a positive and significant impact of using the Duolingo application on students' writing ability for eleventh grades at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung East Lampung. This study aims to determine whether there is a positive and significant influence of the use of the Duolingo application on the writing ability of grade XI students at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung East Lampung. Ho: There is no positive and significant influence of the use of Duolingo application on the writing ability of 11th grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung in the academic year 2019/2020.

Researchers analyzed the data to prove whether there was a positive and significant impact using the Duolingo application on the writing ability of grade XI students at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung East Lampung. Ha : There is a positive and significant impact of using the Duolingo application on the writing ability of grade XI students at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung Lampung Timur for the 2019/2020 school year. That is, there is a positive and significant influence of the use of Duolingo application on the writing ability of grade XI students at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung Lampung Timur.

The Duolingo application has succeeded in helping Grade XI students of SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung East Lampung to hone their writing skills. In other words, the use of Duolingo application affects the writing ability of grade XI students at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung Lampung Timur. This means that there is a positive and significant impact of using the Duolingo application on students' writing skills.

The purpose of conducting a pre-test for students is to help researchers determine students' writing skills before treating them to use the Duolingo app to improve their writing skills. In addition, the researcher was treated with the Duolingo app before conducting the post-test in the experimental class. This means that the treatment through the Duolingo application managed to influence the students' writing ability.

Said (Ho) is rejected if there is a positive and significant impact of Duolingo app usage on students' writing ability and (Ho) is accepted if there is no positive and significant impact of Duolingo app usage on students' writing ability. Ho : There is no positive and significant effect of Duolingo app usage on the writing ability of XI grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung Lampung Timur for the school year 2019/2020. This means that the use of the Duolingo application had a positive and significant effect on the writing ability of eleventh grade students at SMK Muhammadiyah Sekampung East Lampung.

Researchers hypothesize that learning to type using the Duolingo application can help students develop writing skills. The results showed that the Duolingo application was successful in helping students learn to write sentences or paragraphs correctly. Finally, the results of this study explain that the theory of the positive and significant influence of the use of the Duolingo application on students' writing skills is successful.

Based on the results of the research that was done, it can be concluded that the use of the Duolingo application has a positive and significant influence.

Discussion

Generally, before conducting the research, the researcher conducted a pre-test to determine the students' prior knowledge of writing skills before the treatment was administered. After receiving the treatment, it can be seen that there is a significant difference between the post-test scores of the experimental class and the control class. Based on the independent sample T-Test results with the help of SPSS 16.0 for Windows, it can be seen that the mean experimental grade is 73.90.

Furthermore, the probability or Sig number (2 tailed) is 0.000 which is less than α (0.005), so the null hypothesis Ho is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The researcher uses this class because students in this class still have difficulty getting sentences or paragraphs correct. Based on these problems, the researchers applied the Duolingo app to help students learn how to write sentences or paragraphs correctly.

Limitation

From these results, it can be seen that there is a significant difference between the writing scores of the experimental class and the control class, where the post-test scores are higher in the experimental class. It can be seen from this that the average value of the control class is 57.3, and that of the experimental class is 73.9. It is recommended that teachers use the Duolingo app to help students understand how English words should be written.

It is recommended that students study English more actively, especially writing exercises. In guiding English teachers, the principal uses technology to help students learn English so that students are more enthusiastic about learning English.
