Introduction: The prevalence of cognitive impairment in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is very high (80 %).
Modifiable factors worsening cognitive functions include direct effect of azotemia (increased of ureum and creatinine levels), complications of hemodialysis treatment (intradialytic hypotension/IDH and disequilibrium syndrome/DS), comorbidities of ESRD (anaemia, hypoalbuminemia), and vascular risk factors of ESRD (hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus).

Introduction: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease which causes disability and major economic burden. The incidence is thought to be increasing with prolonged life expectancy.
Medication for PD has not been satisfying. Nicotine is the new candidate for PD medication due to it’s neuroprotective and presynaptic dopamine release enhancement effect.
