The first goal of this project was to evaluate the congregation's knowledge of the Christocentric nature of the Bible. This project was completed in conjunction with the First Baptist Church of Matawan, New Jersey. The context of the local religious culture also affects the way members view the Bible.

Within this study, each session led participants to examine the Christocentric nature of the Bible. They were asked to complete and return it before the start of the teaching period. Each of the characters of Genesis will be one of the seed of the woman who reproduces her spiritually.

Rather, the offspring of the woman through the line of Abraham are those who possess the faith of Abraham (Rom 4:16; Gal 3:7-9). The message from the OT is "that Christ will suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem" (Luke 24:46-47) ). Opinions regarding Luke's view of the Christocentric nature of the OT as taught in Luke 24 fall into at least three categories. Another possibility is that Luke understands that Jesus has drawn the attention of his disciples to a set of messianic texts, and that the Christocentric nature of the OT is grounded in the presence of these texts throughout the canon.

This view rightly recognizes that elsewhere Luke emphasizes certain OT texts to demonstrate that Jesus is the Messiah, but it fails to account for the universal descriptions of the Christocentric nature of the OT in Luke and 44. According to Vern Poythress, “Christ made the disciples possible. to understand not only the implication of a few passages of the Old Testament, but 'the Scriptures' - the whole Old Testament. The Jewish leaders' rejection of Christ is correlated with their forefathers' rejection of the prophets (Luke a point so clearly stated in the parable of the wicked tenants that it is fulfilled almost on the spot as the angry scribes and chief priests try to to lay upon him (Luke 20:9-19).

The Scriptures tell a story of suffering and redemption, which must be the calling of the one who represents Israel and acts on behalf of humanity.83. 83Steve Moyise, Jesus and Scripture: Studying the New Testament Use of the Old Testament (Grand Rapids: Baker Academic.

For Clowney, the concept of covenant is the starting point for a Christocentric understanding of the OT. His perspective and methods will help many to understand the Christocentric nature of the Bible. Implicit typology is the recognition that the entire Old Testament is the testimony of Christ.

Thus, an event or person may never be specifically mentioned again in the historical accounts of the Old Testament. The second to sixth weeks of the project were spent developing the educational curriculum for the course (see Appendix 4). Christocentric character of the Bible in the material for the first week of the course.

In the notes of the first session, I included a section introducing the participants to the Christocentric nature of the Bible. In the seventh week of the project, I recruited other evangelical pastors to evaluate the curriculum. The first and last session of the course also included data collection using the questionnaire before and after the course (see Appendix 3).

With about ten minutes left in class, I handed out copies of the post-course questionnaire (see Appendix 3). Teaching the course to participating congregations resulted in an increase in their understanding of the Bible as Christocentric (t p < 0.026). The fourth goal of the project was to increase knowledge about studying the Bible in a Christocentric way.

Hopefully you have now learned some better ways of seeing Christ in the Old Testament.
