Wilmont's Pharmacy Project 03/12/2024

Deliverables/Objective

Wilmont’s, a leading retail pharmacy in the United States with over 8,000 locations nationwide, is preparing to deliver prescriptions and drugstore items using drones. The company has partnered with DroneTech, a

San Francisco-based firm, to develop, prototype, and implement this innovative plan.

The project aims to prototype drones in the San Francisco area to support Wilmont’s vision of delivering prescriptions via drones. This initiative is expected to enhance delivery efficiency and expand the reach of

Wilmont’s pharmacy services, potentially leading to increased revenue.

1. DroneTech will provide the drone technology, along with piloting and delivery systems, which will be customized to meet Wilmont’s specific project requirements, including systems, interfaces, and business processes.

2. The systems and interfaces will be modified by DroneTech to ensure they are tailored to Wilmont’s needs.

3. Four of Wilmont’s pharmacies will be involved in the prototype delivery system.

4. Both companies will address risks, testing, quality control, and information security collaboratively.

5. User training and other preparations for system implementation will be required, with Wilmont’s Change Management Team assisting in these efforts

1. DroneTech will customize its interfaces and systems to meet Wilmont’s specific project requirements.

2. Both companies have agreed to implement the pilot project in the San Francisco area, involving four (4) pharmacy locations.

3. DroneTech Engineering must ensure that Wilmont’s specific packaging and delivery requirements are fulfilled.

4. The first delivery, rollout, and implementation must be completed by November 30.

The project will commence on January 5, with the first customer delivery flight scheduled to take place no later than November 30.

Project Approval Requirements: All budgets and purchases must be approved by the Project Sponsor.

Authority Levels: The project manager of DroneTech Engineering is the point person in the project, coordinating with his team within the organization and with counterparts in Wilmont’s Pharmacy. The project manager reports directly to DroneTech CEO and Founder, Jordan Kempler.

Constraint: The main project constraint lies in the limited time and budget. Therefore, the project managers and the team must work efficiently to meet the deadlines and schedules agreed upon by both parties.

Assumptions: DroneTech already has systems, interfaces, and processes in place; however, these will need to be customized to meet Wilmont’s specific project requirements.

1) Information privacy and security risks: It is essential to ensure that the partnership between DroneTech and Wilmont’s does not compromise the security of Wilmont’s business information, customer privacy, or proprietary details on how Wilmont will use drones for delivery.

2) Manpower and resourcing risks: There is a risk of resource constraints due to tight deadlines and budget, which may impact the availability and allocation of necessary manpower.

3) IT system, interface, and process QAQC: Proper quality assurance, quality control (QAQC), and testing procedures must be implemented to ensure the security and efficiency of the systems and interfaces.

4) Design and engineering safety protocols: Safety protocols for design and engineering must be established to ensure the safety of individuals and the delivery of quality services and products.

Gerald Hasper, the Flight Operations Manager, should work closely with the Project Manager to ensure that Wilmont’s specific delivery system requirements are met, including the temperature-controlled product

bagging system and the bubble-type cushioning system.
