B. Introduction
It was time for Nostalgia, it was time for feeling young again. The Narula Institute of Technology, Kolkata conducted its 2nd Alumni Meet on 27th of September, 2014 and needless to say it was a huge success.
In the Alumni Meet of NIT Graduates, the Association President Ms.
Sagarika Chowdhury, called upon the fellow members to foster the junior students. The meet was well attended by more than 60 alumni ranging across various batches. Function started at 5.00 P.M. with lighting of the lamp by the NIT Principal Prof. (Dr.) D. Mitra. He blessed the alumni with his motivating words and extended a very warm, cordial and affectionate welcome to all the Alumni and their families. The Inaugural session was also attended by various Deans, Registrar, HODs, and faculty and staff members of NIT.
Many senior Alumni members like Mr. Rahul Dutta (1st batch), Mr.
Dibyadyuti Chakrabarti (1st batch) and others in their address to the fellow members appreciated the growth of the NIT and also promised that they would interact with the students at short intervals in a team. This will not only help the pre-final and outgoing students in facing the interviews more successfully but this will help them realize the industry expectations.
C. Summary
The President of Alumni association, Ms. Sagarika Chowdhury welcomed the alumni and their family members in the campus and appreciated their zeal to assemble here. After lighting the lamp and officially inaugurating the ceremony, Prof.(Dr.) D. Mitra, Principal, NIT extends his warm welcome to each of the alumni members and their family . The Registrar of NIT Ms.
Nidhi Singh also extended her warm gratitude to the members and be a part of the program till end.
The Alumni association planned to felicitate Mr. Taranjit Singh, MD, JIS Group. But due to some last minute urgency, He failed to attend the program, but blessed all for the grand success of the event. The association also felicitate Principal and Registrar of NIT with a ‘Uttorio’, flower bouquet and a memento.
The meet started from 3:00PM onwards followed by Dinner with all the Alumni right from the first batch to the most recent batch. Many of the HODs, Deans, Faculty and staff members of NIT attended the meet and enjoyed it with their family members.
After the inaugural session and felicitation ceremony the President of the association started the AGM officially and handed to the Secretary of the association for the opening speech for the Annual General Meeting of the year. After that Md. Ashifuddin Mondal, Jt. Treasurer presented the report of the activities and brief budget undertaken by the association since last Alumni Meet in 2013. The AGM continued for more than the stipulated time as the members participated wholeheartedly and showers their suggestions for the improvement of the Institute more and more.
The Inaugural session was followed by cultural programme by our students and as well as by the alumni. The 1st band of our Institute “SUKTARA”
performed and the evening was magnificent. Many of the current students were also seen interacting with their pass out seniors and learning from their experiences. The sound and light was amazing. In all, the ambience was electric when people seen chatting and enjoying in groups.
D. Welcome Address by Ms. Sagarika Chowdhury, President, Alumni Association, NIT
A very good evening to all the dignitaries, faculties and staffs for present over here and my heartiest welcome to all my friends and my juniors of Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata.
On behalf of the alumni association of Narula , I want to say you “WELCOME TO HOME” !
Simple music can make you sing, a simple hug can make u feel better, simple things can make you happy. I hope that my simple hi will make you smile!
The alumni meet is one of the tremendous occasions which used to place in NIT from last year. This is the way in which we get to interact with our seniors and juniors to share their experiences in college and after college.
Hope, this will lasts forever.
I want to thank our honourable MD. Sir of JIS group Mr. Taranjit Singh for his unconditional support towards us. Today due to some personal emergency he cannot attend this program, but we know, his blessings are with us always. Without it, the association could not start its beautiful journey.
We also thank our honourable director Prof.(Dr.) A. K. Guha sir, deputy director Mr. U S Mukherjee sir and respected principal Dr. D. Mitra sir for their love and support towards the alumni of NIT.
Our heartiest gratitude to Registrar madam Mrs. Nidhi Singh. Without her wholehearted support, this program can not be a grand success. I can remember, till date, whenever and whatever the problem we face, Madam was there to help us. So, once more a big thanks to her from bottom of my heart.
Last but not least, my sincere thanks to all the internal alumni members, wonderful student volunteers and the alumnus who has came to make this event a grant success. Once again welcome back home.
E. Address by Prof.(Dr.) D. Mitra, Principal, NIT
Prof.(Dr.) Debojyoti Mitra, Principal of NIT addressed the alumni members and their family and conveyed his blessings to them. He appreciated them for coming in the Institute after a long and also told them to continue their ties with the institute forever. With this the institute will improve day by day and the current students will get benefit from them. Any technical session conducted by the senior alumni members relating to current industry trends will lead the institute to reach the top of the sky. Once again he welcomes all and wishes a grand and wonderful evening.
F. Address by Ms. Nidhi Singh, Registrar, NIT
Ms. Nidhi Singh, Registrar, NIT welcome all the distinguished alumni and thanks them for coming back home! She was very much enthusiastic for making future knot with them through not only by this cultural program, but with some technical events and social works for the benefit of the institute as well as for the society. She also conveyed the warm message of the Deputy Director Mr. U.S. Mukherjee, as he was unable to attend the grand event.
G. Address by Mr. Abhijit Ghosh, Secretary, Alumni Association, NIT
As the secretary of the Alumni Association, Narula Institute Of Technology, it is a great honour and privilege for me to extend a warm welcome to each one of you at the 2nd Alumni Meet and Annual General meeting of our institution.
The Annual Report for the year ended 31st March 2014 will be discussed by Mr. Asiffuddin Mondal, Joint Treasurer of the association, as Treasurer Ms. Tamasree Biswas is absent today, due to some reason.
We are also looking forward for more suggestions from your side for connecting to all the alumnus, so that the bridge between the current student and their alumnus become more and more stronger.
F: Annual General Meeting
Agenda 1: Welcome speech by President, Ms Sagarika Chowdhury ‘05
Resolution: Once again the President welcomes all and officially commenced the meeting for the betterment of the association and the Institute.
Agenda 2: Report of the Secretary, Mr. Abhijit Ghosh ‘09
Resolution: The secretary of the association conveyed warm welcome to all and shares his experiences as a secretary for last one year. He looks forward for more growth of the association and told to be interconnected with all.
Agenda 3: Annual Budget report by Jt. Treasurer Md. Ashifuddin Mondal’10
Resolution: The joint Treasurer announced the annual budget for the academic year 2013-14 and declared no dues.
Agenda 4: Fixation of Alumni Meet date
Resolution: From the mass three possible dates came out : i) Like this year, before the commencement of Durga Puja
ii) During Kali Puja/Dewali
iii) During Christmas/New Year, i.e. end of December
But no specific date fix up. It is decided that, in next meeting it can be decided.
Agenda 5: Election for the post of President, Treasurer Resolution:
i) As Treasurer, Ms. Tamasree Biswas was absent, no decision taken on behalf of her.
ii) Ms. Sagarika Chowdhury, President, once again unanimously re- elected as the President of the Association.
Agenda 6: Open forum Resolution:
i) Some of the senior alumni wanted to know from the current students that what their expectation from them is. There was a very interactive session among the current students and the senior Ex- students. And they shared their views about the current industry.
ii) Some senior Ex-students agreed to visit college regularly for the betterment of the current students.
The meeting ended with thanks and promised to meet frequently in the campus.
