BLACK GRAM (URD BEAN) ,GREEN GRAM (MOONG

BEAN/

MOONG)

Sowing

Continue sowing of green/ black gram. Level the land properly and provide adequate drainage to prevent water logging. Varieties like Pant U 19, T- 9 Azad urd 1 and green gram varieties like K 851, PDM 11, Pusa Vishal are suitable for this region and sowing should be done by maintaining a spacing of 30-35cm *10cm and seed rate of 12-15 kg/ha.

2 CAULIFLOWER Transplanting to Nursery

Continue nursery preparing of cauliflower (var.

like Meghalaya Local) in temporary rain shed structure or starts after the current spell of rain in high altitude regions. Seed rate of 400-500g is required for transplanting of 1 ha. Transplant 3- 5 weeks old seedlings may be started now after the current spell of rain. Maintain a spacing of 60 cm row to row & 45cm plant to plant and apply urea

@130.2 kg/ha, MOP @50 kg/ha & SSP @500 kg/ha at the time of transplanting.

3

GROUNDNUT (PEA

NUT/MUNG PHALLI)

Peg Initiation

Avoid water logging in the field. Remove excess water and maintain proper drainage facilities.

Farmers can perform one hand weeding at 30- 35DAS (i.e. flower initiation stage) followed by earthing up to promote easy penetration of pegs into soil. Warm weather with intermittent rain is congenial for the development of leaf spot in groundnut. Spray carbendazim (0.05%) + mancozeb (0.2%) at 2-3 weeks intervals after the current spell of rain if dark spots are seen on the leaf. For control of major insect pests spray phosphamidon 100 EC @ 0.5 ml/ litre of water.

Spraying should not be done during rainy days.

4 PADDY (DHAN)

Active Tillering

Weeding may be done in the field. Postpone fertilizer application and chemical application (fungicide/insecticide) as there may be heavy rain in the coming days. Due to substantial decrease in sunshine hours with intermittent rain there may be attack of Yellow stem borer in rice crop, farmers are advised to spray Imidachloprid 2.0 ml or per liter of water.

5 PEAS (FIELD Sowing Start sowing of pea in high altitude after the

(3)

PEAS/ GARDEN PEAS/MATAR)

current spell of rain. Recommended var. are Arkel (for vegetables), TRC P8, TRC P9, Prakash, Rachna. Maintain a seed rate of 60 kg is required for 1 ha at a spacing of 20-25 cm between rows &

3-5 cm plant to plant. Apply recommended dose of fertilizer, NPK - 20:60:40 kg/ha (44kg Urea, 375 kg SSP & 67 kg MOP). Apply all doses of fertilizers at the time of sowing.

6

PIGEON PEA (RED

GRAM/ARHAR)

Sowing to Vegetative Growth

Postpone sowing of red gram var. UPAS-120, ICPL 87 (short duration), WB 20, Pusa 9 & Sarita (long duration). Maintain a spacing of 40-60 row to row & 10-15 plant to plant (Short duration); 60- 120 p-p & 15-20 row to row (Long duration).

Apply starter dose of 10-15 kg N, 40-50kg P and 20kg S per ha at the time of sowing. Make drainage properly for draining of excess water from the field.

7 SOYBEAN

(BHAT) Flowering Maintain proper drainage system to avoid water logging in the field and undertake regular weeding.

8 TURMERIC ,GINGER

Vegetative Growth

Remove excess water and maintain proper drainage facilities in the field. Undertake weeding and 2nd top dressing of urea @ 81 kg/ha and MOP@ 42 kg/ha at 90 DAS followed by earthing up. For management of Leaf Spot disease, apply Bordeaux mixture (5:5:50) after 4 – 5weeks of sowing or Captan @ 1.5 g/l of water. Spray/ drench 1%

Bordeaux mixture or Dithane M-45 (2.5g/l) to prevent rhizome rot.

9

Khasi mandarin Collect and destroy the trunk borer, Clean the bored holes of the infested trunk with iron wire and insert a cotton swab soaked in petrol or 5ml of Dichlorvos @ 2ml/l and plug with mud.

10 Cattle Transplanting to Nursery

Keep the animals indoor as there may be heavy rain in the coming days. Immunization in cattle against Foot & Mouth disease, Haemorrhagic septicaemia & Black Quarter diseases should be done regularly.

11 Pig Transplanting

to Nursery

Keep the Pig shed/ stay dry and avoid dampness during rainy days. All newly born piglets should be vaccinated against Swine fever at the age of 2 months followed by booster and annual dose.

Provide additional feed ingredients like broken rice wheat bran, broken maize along with kitchen waste, mineral mixture (20g/day). Deworming of pig/piglets with Albenoazole (5-10mg/Kg body

(4)

wt.) should be done.

12 Poultry Transplanting to Nursery

Due to continuous rain temperature has decreased, farmers are advised to keep chicks warm by giving proper heat through electric bulbs. Take precaution measures and regularly check the dropping of birds. Provide plenty of fresh and clean drinking water and coccidiostatic like Amprolium @ 25-65 mg/kg feed once a day as a preventive measure against coccidiosis. To protect the poultry birds from Ranikhet disease, vaccinate the with F1/

Lasota vaccine (1 drop) at the age of 4-7 days old and 35 days old through eye and nostril.
