Rainfall (Roing): 3.7 mm Mostly sunny with possibility of no rain. Daily maximum and minimum temperature for the following period is predicted to be 24.0-26.0oC and 09.0- 11.0oC respectively. Expected morning and evening relative humidity will be 51-62% and 24-29% respectively. Wind direction is mainly SE with average wind speed range of 7.2-8.0 kmph.

Warning:

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Monitor for possible attack of insects/pests

Application of fertilizers/manure can be done during clear/dry days

Proper drainage to all crop to avoid runoff

Check of vaccination schedule in poultry/livestock

DETAILS OF ADVISORIES FOR THE PERIOD

Crop Stage Pest/Disease Precautionary Practices to be followed

FIELD CROPS

Mustard Flowering/

Pod formation

Aphid  Weeding may be done in view of light rains received during the last few days,

 Spraying against aphids may be delayed because of rains which might have dislodged the insects.

Rice Drying /

storage

 It is important to dry rice grain as soon as possible after harvesting— ideally within 24 hours. Delays in drying, incomplete drying or ineffective drying will reduce grain quality and result in losses.

Clean the grains before drying to avoid uneven drying and wet spots.

 It is recommended that rice for food purposes be stored in paddy form rather than milled rice as the husk provides some protection against insects and helps prevent quality deterioration.

VEGETABLES

Cabbage/

Cauliflower/

Knolkhol/

Others Col crops

Vegetative / Harvesting

Frost

 Provide irrigation to the late sown crop,

To protect from excessive frost, give light sprinkle of water over the crop, or make arrangement of small fire between the fields to create smoke.

HORTICULTURAL CROPS

Banana Bunching Cold  Cover newly emerged bunches with locally available sack to protect from cold/frost

 Timely/regular removal of extra suckers, dry leaves &

pseudostem.

Citrus/ Oranges Maturity/

Harvesting

Bark eating caterpillar

 In case there is infestation of Bark eating caterpillar, remove wooden frass present in between the joints of the tree trunk and inject Dichlorovos (DDVP) 76 EC 0.1 percent @ 5ml in the larval tunnel with the heop of disposable syringe and push the cotton swab soaked in Dichlorovos solution in the larval tunnel.

 Prune dead wood from the trees.

LIVESTOCKS

Livestock Stage Disease

Precautionary Practices to be followed

Poultry All stages  Vaccination of birds as per the recommended age,

 Avoid dampness, litter should be periodically changed.

 Provide clean and fresh water daily.

 Artificial heating through lighting of electric bulb during night time to protect the poultry birds (day old to 25 days old) from low temperature.

Pig Pigs/ Piglets  Wet bedding and cold weather are prerequisite for pneumonia, so avoid these and provide dry bedding material,

 Provide artificial heat ( though high watt Electric bulb) to small piglets

 Deworming with broad spectrum anthelmentics,

Contact Scientists (ICAR) or State Agril Staff or KVK staff for measures against adverse conditions or call at 03795-226237/226247
