AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF DEMAND OF BRANDED WATER PURIFIERS AMONG THE

CONSUMERS OF INDORE Dr. Madhvi Panchal

Abstract- This research paper is related to the study and analysis of demand of branded water purifiers among the consumers of Indore city. The study is showing the status of demand of branded water purifiers in Indore city.

1 INTRODUCTION

Access to clean water is a vital issue in the world today, spanning across multiple dimensions, including environmental policy, industry, technology, and of course, poverty. More than 1/3 of the world’s renewable fresh water is used for agricultural, industrial, or domestic purposes. The majority of these uses, release compounds back into the water that makes it unsafe; we have become addicted to methods that poison surrounding bodies of water. Several million tons of pesticides, fertilizers and synthetic compounds from industrial and consumer products find their way into natural waters every year. It is now widely accepted that for many people, access to clean and safe water in sufficient quantities is the most serious challenge of survival in the twenty first century. Even in small amounts, these compounds can have detrimental effects on sanitation, with proven long-term consequences for aquatic stability and human health. Now, let’s consider the fact that 1/3 of the world’s population lives without access to clean water: clearly, we have a problem.

Technology must be paired with concern for the environment and public health in order to deal with the need for a fast, inexpensive, and energy conserving method of water purification. Purified water provides clean water for household needs. Cooking with and drinking purified water helps to ensure a family's peace of mind by knowing there is no foreign matter in their water. Many people prefer the flavor of pure water.

In the present scenario there is though competition among the branded water purifier market in India is dominated by Reverse osmosis (RO) water purifiers due to high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) level of water across majority of the states couple with strong purification

capacity of RO technology for high TDS water purification. Therefore the demand of branded water purifiers is growing day- by-day.

1.1 Objective of the Study

Every study has a specific objective to do it. The objective of this research is to know that what is the status of demand of branded water purifiers in Indore city.

1.2 Hypothesis of the Study:

Every study has its pre-answers that is called hypothesis. It means a research assume the result of the study before the research. The hypothesis of this study is –

“There is a significant growth in demand of branded water purifiers in Indore.”

2 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

For this study, a survey will be organized for collecting data of sales of branded water purifiers from the retailers. For this study there are 35 retailers has been selected for collection of data.

2.1 Limitation of the Study The limitations of study are:

1. The area of the study is limited to Indore city.

2. The data is collected for a specific period of five years i.e. 2013-14 to 2017-18.

2.2 Status of demand of branded water purifiers in Indore:

As we Know the Water purifier industry is growing day by day, this table represents the demand growth from the year 2013–

2018 as well as there is excellent demand in this product:

3 DATA ANALYSIS & INTERPRETATION The above show and observed that the demand of branded water purifiers in Indore in 2013 – 2014 was 5%. In the 2014-15 this demand increased up to 7.5% that is more than 2.5% from last

year demand. In the 2015-16 the demand of branded water purifier was 12.6% that is more than last two years. In the year 2016-17 this demand of branded water purifiers in Indore was 23.5% that is about 20% more than 2013-14 and in the last year of this study this demand became 45.51% that is about 9 times from first year and about two times from last year.

Thus, sales increased in market and it shows growing stage of industry because people started using water purifier for status, good health and safety measures. In the year 2017-2018 water purifier industry grew at the rate of 45.51% therefore its sales has increased as compared to the previous years. Thus it is clearly proved that the Water purifier industry is at excellent growth stage. With many existing features and adding new features the product variants are seen at the market place. Thus our hypothesis has accepted.
