01. Brief Report about School of Education

Central University of Kashmir (CUK) established School of Education in 2012 and started its operations from the academic session—June 2012. Currently, there are three departments under its belt viz: I. Deptt. Of Education, II. Deptt. Of Teacher Education and III. Deptt. Of Physical Education. School of Education currently offers B.Ed., M.Ed., M.A. in Education, M.P.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D. & Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance & Counselling (PGDGC) programmes. Keeping in view the vision and mission statements of the CUK, the School of Education has successfully taken many initiatives and innovative steps in order to realize the goal of excellence in education in general and higher education in particular. Right from its inception in 2012, the School of Education has been striving hard to provide good quality education in terms of using modern technologies in teaching-learning processes, evaluating students through continuous and comprehensive evaluation system, enrolling students from diverse religious, social, regional and geographical backgrounds and developing inclusive ethos as a trend of working among various stakeholders. School of Education is showing keen interest in the enhancement and maintenance of quality standards of the CUK. The School, in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), has developed the Student Feedback Performa through which the students assess the teacher and the university as a whole and consequently the improvements are made on the identified areas. As a part of its routine practice, the School of Education has prepared Curriculum Transaction Strategy (CTS) for making the teaching-learning process more fruitful and productive. The School publishes a peer-reviewed research journal which is approved by the UGC. The School is pressing hard its faculty to enhance their profiles through various faculty development programmes. The faculty members of the School also take part in various administrative activities of the varsity.

other allied events organised by the School of Education along with the exact dates from 01-04-2019 to 31-03-2020

i. Department of Teacher Education conducted a week-long workshop on

‘Microteaching’ from 18th Nov. to 23rd Nov. 2019 at Green Campus, Ganderbal.

ii. School of Education & Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), CUK, jointly organised One-Day National Seminar on ‘Draft National Education Policy (NEP) 2019’ on 26th Jun 2019 at Green Campus, Ganderbal.

iii. Department of Teacher Education organised One-Day Seminar on ‘Inservice Teacher Training as Reflected in New Education Policy’ on 20th Jun 2019, at Green Campus, Ganderbal.

iv. School of Education published its first Volume of News Letter—entitled as

‘News on Education’—in February 2020.

v. School of Education organised an Extension Lecture on ‘Relevance of Technology in Higher Education’ on 16th May 2019, at Green Campus, Ganderbal. The extension lecture was delivered by Prof. Renu Nanda, Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Jammu.

vi. School of Education organised an Extension Lecture on ‘New Challenges in Higher Education’ on 24th April 2019, at Green Campus, Ganderbal. The extension lecture was delivered by Prof. Namita Ranganathan, Dean, Central Institute of Education (CIE), Delhi University.

vii. School of Education, in collaboration with Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), Bemina, Srinagar, organised ‘Awareness Programme about Special Abilities in Exceptional Children’ on 2nd May 2019, at Green Campus, Ganderbal.

viii. Department of Teacher Education conducted ‘One-Day Environmental Tour to Dachigam National Park’ on 2nd May 2019.

ix. In Part-I of 3rd Phase of Community Mobilization Programme (CMP), School of Education, CUK, outreached Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Trust, Soura, Srinagar on 10th May 2019.

x. In Part-II of 3rd Phase of Community Mobilization Programme (CMP), School of Education, CUK, outreached Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Trust, Kangan, on 23rd May 2019.

School, Check-i-Duderhama, Ganderbal, organised a One-Day ‘Awareness Campaign against One-Time Use of Plastics’ on 19th Jun 2019. “Say No To Plastics” was the theme of this campaign.
