The major Tomato producing states in the country are Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal,Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Telangana. These states account for about 90% of the total production of the country.
Details regarding seasonality and harvesting period of Tomato crop in the country are given in Table-1.1.
As per report received from different states All India expected production in 2019-20 is estimated to be 186.08 Lakh Tonnes (Table-1.2)

Harvesting of Rabi Tomato is continuing in major Rabi growing Tomato i.e.
Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
As reported by states upto April 2020, Rabi Area sown is 6.055 Lakh Ha.
against 5.73 Lakh Ha. last year.
Total area during 2019-20 sown is 7.87 lakh ha. in the country as against 7.58 lakh ha. of last year.
3. MARKET ARRIVALS AND WHOLESALE PRICES
State-wise monthly market arrivals and average wholesale prices of Tomato for the month of April, 2020, March, 2020 (previous month) and April, 2019 (corresponding month of previous year) are given inTable-3.1
Arrivals in April 2020 are less than the corresponding month of previous year as well as previous month.
All India Monthly Market Arrivals and Average Wholesale Prices from January 2016 to April 2020 along with Delhi market are given from Table 3.2 to Table 3.5.
