Black gram cash market traded with negative bias and remained sluggish on decreased quotes in Myanmar due to buyer’s unwillingness to buy at higher price, release by importers at discounted prices in domestic markets and the increased summer area. Sentiments may remain weak with the resumption of Tur supply from Myanmar which is likely to start by the end of the month.

Sensing the short supply and increasing prices of Black gram in the local markets, govt. had extended the import timeline for Black gram to 31st March-2023. It would ensure a regular supply as per the requirement from Myanmar and help to cap upward momentum. India imported around 6.11 lakh MT Black gram during last Financial Year against 3.34 lakh MT in 2020-21. At Mumbai, Myanmar FAQ prices were down by 2.82% to INR 6900 per quintal from INR 7100 per quintal. At Delhi, FAQ and SQ rates remained at INR 7100 per quintal and INR 7800 per quintal down from INR 7200 per quintal and INR 7900 per quintal.
