Counseling for the Admission to M.Sc (Hons. School) in Physics, Physics (Specialization in Electronics) and M.Sc. (Medical
Physics) for the year 2019-20

1. The counseling for the M.Sc (Hons. School) in Physics, Physics (Specialization in Electronics) and M.Sc. (Medical Physics) will be held in the Seminar Room of the Department of Physics on July 24, 2019 (Wednesday) as per the following schedule:

* The Overall marks here refer to the marks calculated by including B.Sc., CET marks and other weightages. This number appears in the second-last column of the merit list before the ‘Remarks’ column.

2. The counseling of the NRI students will be held at the end on the same day.
3. The Overall marks are the final marks calculated by the online admission software according to the criteria that 60 % and 40 % weightage marks are
assigned to CET and the qualifying (B.Sc.) aggregate marks, respectively. Please refer to the page number 32 of the Handbook of Information (2019) to determine the weightage contributions of NSS, NCC, Hons. and Panjab University B.Sc.
passed out students.
4. In case your final approval by the Department of Physics has not been made before 22nd July, 2019 due to your awaited result in the final year B.Sc., please submit your final result to the Department of Physics by 5:00 PM, 22nd July.
Please bring proper documentary evidence provided by competent authority.
5. We will not handle any query or correction(s) at the Department of Physics level regarding category claim (SC, ST, BC, Defense, Rural, Single Girl Child, etc.) and NSS, NCC, Sports weightage etc. Please communicate with the DUI (Dean of University Instructions), Panjab University office regarding these matters.
6. All the candidates should take a print-out of the online application form.
They are required to submit a clean hard-copy of this form along with self- attested photocopies of all the certificates and a recent passport size photograph at the time of counseling. The photograph should be properly glued to the downloaded application hard-copy. We will not provide any services regarding the generation of a print-out of the application form or any other certificate at the time of counseling. We will not wait for the candidate to get this print-out from elsewhere at the time of counseling.
7. The candidate must bring the original copy of the certificates relevant for the admission including the authenticated document of CGPA to percentage conversion formula at the time of counseling.
8. Hons. weightage will be given only if the candidate has acquired extra credits for Hons. by studying the subject in which he/she is seeking admission in M.Sc.
There should be proper documentary evidence from the competent authority that clearly states that the candidate has finally completed B.Sc. with Hons. The documentary evidence could be in the form of certificate, mark-sheet, displayed result, degree, etc. The candidate can bring it at the time of counseling (or before) to avail the weightage. No 15 % Hons. weightage will be given in the absence of the final approved documentary evidence. Note that no such certificate from The Principal will be accepted.
9. The candidate with a gap in the academic year(s) after B.Sc. should make a statement regarding the fact that he/she was not involved in any criminal activity during the year(s).
10. The candidates will be asked to give his/her course preference from M.Sc (Hons. School) in Physics, Physics (Specialization in Electronics) and
M.Sc. (Medical Physics) at the time of counseling. The candidate has to also give an undertaking that in case if he/she gets admission in the course of preference he/she will forego (give up) his/her claim from the other course. The list of the admitted candidate and the waiting list for the three courses will be prepared accordingly and displayed on this webpage.
11. Once the counseling is over in the evening we will not further collect any data, certificate, etc., from any candidate.
