Department of Extension Education B A College of Agriculture, AAU, Anand

Department of extension education was established in 1963. The main goal of department is to accelerate the transfer of agriculture technology through its innovative academic programme to produce skilled communication/Extension professionals. The academic curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate have been developed to reflect the current trends in agriculture communication and extension. Department has published three books, namely 'A Textbook on Agricultural Extension', 'Dimensions of Agricultural Extension Education' and 'Information Technology for Agricultural Production, Education and Management'.

Main goals:-

1. To produce employable skilled human resource for agricultural extension and communication

2. To develop extension strategy and methodology for extension education, extension service and extension work.

B. Postgraduate teaching: The Department has guided 311 M. Sc. (Agri.) and 42 Ph.D.

students in the subject of Extension Education till today. At present 17 M. Sc. students and 7 Ph.D. students are studying in the department.

1) Postgraduate teaching (Agriculture Students): Total 24 courses are being offered and taught at postgraduate Level in Agriculture College

2) Postgraduate teaching (Veterinary Students): Total 5 courses are being offered and taught at postgraduate Level Teaching for the students of veterinary College

C. Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme: Planning, organization and execution of Rural Agricultural Work Experience of Seventh Semester B.Sc. (Agri.) students during each academic year. The Department of Extension Education taking helps of all the departments of college is completely involved to develop students of 7th semester for generating employability skills viz. Art of listening, Art of negotiation, Confidence building, Conflict management, Develop skill of joint effort, Developing art of creative thinking, Effective decision-making, How to get feedback, Life like experiences, Managing relationship, Money management, Observe problem, Personality development, Practicing method, Self-management, Time management, Understand the real life problems, understanding of prevailing situation, understanding situation of recommended technology, working pattern of local institution and Working pattern with local organizations/leaders through following activities for the whole semester.
