absolutely love Kashmir, it’s a wonderful valley that always has something going on and loads of places to explore – I am super proud of saying I live here and study at Central University of Kashmir”.

My name is Muhammed Adhil from Kerala. I am one of the students who got the privilege to pursue my post- graduation in Travel and tourism

management at the Central University of Kashmir. Kashmir, aka Jannet-E-

Kashmir, had been on my bucket list like every hodophile. It's always complicated to choose a favourite place in Kashmir due to the diverse range of cultures and traditions. Lately, visiting the notable Islamic shrine of Makhdoom Sahib who was a Sufi mystic living in Kashmir. has been one of my favourite places in Kashmir for its peaceful ,serene environment and understanding Sufism.

My name is Jeril M Joy from Kerala. I’m pursuing my post graduation in travel and tourism management at Central University of Kashmir. I am glad to doing my masters here . It’s a wonderful

Unexplored Places of Kashmir

SHRUNZ FALL: THE HIDDEN PARADISE

Umar Bashir, 2nd Semester MTTM

S

hrunz fall is located on ningli stream in North Kashmir Baramulla district .The fall is about 22kms from Srinagar Muzzafarabad National Highway when one takes turn at Tapper, choora and poutkha Muqam..Tourism department has installed Sign boards on these 3 places having landscape picture of the fall in it. The fall is just 5km away from Baba Reshi shrine, a pilgrim spot where the shrine of famous Sufi Saint Baba Payam ud din Reshi is located. It is also 30 kms away from district headquarters baramulla. One can also reach to this fall from Srinagar through Narbal and can book cab/ car from Tangmarg to this fall .It is located in a remote area, this area is rich in flora and fauna and is beautified with pir and pine trees. It is exactly in the lap of peer panjal mountain range.

This place can be good for water and adventure tourism. The area around shrunz fall has a good potential of zip lining, Trekkers can have a hard adventure all the way from GULMARG, BABA RESHI and TANGMARG to this fall.

The villages situated in picturesque forest area near Shrunz waterfall include

Saterseeran, Nagbal,Dandmoh, Nilsar,

Chontipathri and Baldaji. The natural falling of water doubles to the charm of the spot in scenic beauty. The spot remains priority of people including school children everyday to enjoy at.

What’s unfortunate is the treatment of the authorities towards this place, there’s no development. A place that has the caliber to be a great tourist destination has ended up being a lost paradise. Due to lack of basic facilities in the area the visiting tourists face immense hardships. Locals opine that this unexplored tourist destination if maintained properly can to a great extent to boost the economy of the area.

Talking about the local food the area is rich in wheat production. The famous Kashmiri Qahwah with MAKAI CHOUT has also made the place very famous in terms of food. Rest we can find all the food types persisting there as throughout in Kashmir....

The local transport for the site is basically from the main Baramulla and from different link roads connecting national highway to site.

The another famous route connecting the site is from Tangmarg via Baba Reshi road through charming forests.

Nuzhat Farooq, 2nd Semester MTTM.

Uri

, known as ‘Window of Kashmir‘, is a beautiful town located on the left bank of Jhelum river, about 23 miles away from Baramulla. Before partition, the Jhelum Valley road linking srinagar with Koh-Mari-Rawalpindi via Muzaffarabad enters into Kashmir Valley from this very town. Holy shrine of Saint Baba Fareed ud din sahib, surrounded by lush green forests and meadows, is situated at top of village Garkote in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

There is a big rock in Baba Fareed and it has footprint of a horse on it, and it is believed that Saint Baba Fareed Sahibs horse used to rest there. It is an unexplored area which is

situated 10km away from Uri, 60 km from Baramulla and 115 km from Srinagar.

There are little huts in Baba Fareed which belong to local inhabitants of nearby villages and in summers people graze their animals in the lush green meadows of Baba Fareed mountain.

Famous for it's meadows, it has a great potential for tourism attraction also the place is good for camping, trekking etc.

You can experience the view of mighty Kandi mountain which is the highest mountain peak in Uri, from there you can see the full view of the whole Uri town .You can also experience the refreshing view of Pir Panjal mountain.
