Student Remarks
many of the tas were horrible. they werent receptive of doubts at all and were misleading. prof wasnt open to changing schedule even though students were struggling to finish stuff. the assignments were very unclear and wasted a lot of time on unnecessary logistics which in no way were usefull as far as subject was concerned but mattered in terms of the marks we recieved. The exams were rampant with cheating and not fair on honest students. The papers were also long for the time limit.
2 of the 4 TAs assigned to this course were unhelpful and not clear about the course content. They did not know the nature of the assignments that they had set themselves and were thus unresponsive when doubts were asked. The assignments did not contribute to the skills of the students and the contents were not covered in the theory classes. The professor was
knowledgeable and taught the contents well but left all control of assignments to the TAs who werent held answerable for their actions.
Good course.
Not at all satisfied tas could be more helpful I dont know I felt like things were rushing . Overall Good
Professor isnt bad. Assignments were too boring, but thats more on the subject than anything.
Tas were not at all helpful assignments were very tough quizzes were also very tough it is impossible to solve all those questions within given time . Rupesh sir was I dont know quite different when compared to prev semesters he was constantly disagreeing on everything we asked and when it comes to assignments many students didnt have the motivation or dont know what to do due to that many of us suffered a lot .
Ta are doing nothing , when it comes to evaluation it is auto graded.they need to involve , there is no good interaction with us. its very bad
Assignments are not structured properly, and the course was rushed.
We had 4 classes per week while it is supposed to be only 3 per week. We completed a 4 month semester in 3 months. The assignments were not conducted effectively. The problem statements were not mentioned clearly and we had to try match our code with TAs. The TAs did not put much effort in helping us. The problem statements were not at all clear and ta expected us to clarify the problem statement. There were changes made in assignments 2-3 days before submission.
The assignments were largely open ended. The TAs were of no help in most of the assignments. Also, completing the course at such a fast pace put a lot of pressure on the students. Rupesh sir’s teaching was great as always but the remaining part of the course was handled terribly.
good
Excellent teaching
The quizzes and exam were not organized in a proper manner. There was no supervision and proctoring
TAs were horrible and the instructor did not hold them responsible. They framed very vague assignments and did not adhere to their own instructions while grading. The instructions and expectations from assignments were changed a day or two before deadlines almost always and no extra time was given to students for working this out. The course was a bit rushed in places and very slow in others. Lab and Theory were far apart and did not have anything in common for this to be a combined 15 credits.
The most inconsiderate professor till date. No cooperation with students in any form when it came to assignments. The prof himself knew nothing about the assignments and did not teach a single thing for assignments. Rushed the course to completion.
The course proved to be very hectic and I did not understand many things. For parsing, even the textbook proved to be
humongous and difficult to understand. The exams were more like jee mains testing computation skills rather than compiler skills.
They were also very ambiguous, and we spent lot of time debating the answers after each paper. The assignments are also very ambiguous, the TAs should take effort in making the problems statement less ambiguous and not change things at the last moment.
TAs were not friendly. They could have us helped more in the assignments. Prof. Rupesh teaches really well. He also taught us OOP. He is very calm and precise. I dont know why he keeps telling himself he is bad in teaching. He is one of the best
professors whom we have encountered. But he should be more precise in the exams. I dont think he went through the quiz papers before conducting them and hence we struggled in resolving those questions against him.
The teaching aspect of the course was excellent. Presentations by the prof were great as usual.Everything except the teaching was worst as compared to the previous sem. The TAs were literally of no use. Assignments were very subjective and open- ended.Coordination among prof and TAs was not at all good.
