A one Day Technical Seminar titled “Current Scenario and Specific Assessment in Construction Industry” was organized by Department of Civil Engineering and ICI students chapter on 13th of July, 2019.
The program started by 10:00am with tamil thaai vazhthu followed by Welcome address from Ms.V.Kavithanjaali of III year. First session was delivered by the Chief guest:
Dr.L.S.Jayagopal, Managing Director, Mithran Structures Private Limited. The experts profile was delivered by Ms.Priya T of final year. Dr.L.S.Jayagopal gave a brief insight onto the various aspects of current Scenario and assessment procedures in Construction Industry. He elaborated about the skills to be set by the students before entering the Construction Industry. He gave a note on 4M (Men, Material, Machinery, Methods) – concept in Construction Industry. He highlighted the importance of Steel structures in global stage. He addressed the economic and structural considerations of a structure with a view of cost and weight reduction using concepts like lattice purlins, double plane trusses, etc. He gave hints on pyramids and vaulted structures.
Outcomes Students were able to gain knowledge about aspects of current scenario and assessment procedures in Construction Industry.
Feedback Students felt that both the sessions were more informative and knowledge gaining.
