Guidelines For Admission in Ph.D. Programme, 2018 Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi.
The Ph.D. Programme offered by Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, will be governed by the "M.Phil. / Ph.D. Regulations, 2018" of the University which are in consonance with the provisions of the UGC (minimum standards and procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2016.
Candidates who have obtained Master's Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade (General Category ) or 50% marks or its equivalent grade (ST/SC/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently abled Category) may apply for Admission in Ph.D.
Programme in the subjects mentioned below provided they satisfy any of the following criteria :
i) Candidates who have cleared UGC-NET (including JRF), UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ DBT-JRF / ICMR-JRF /SLET/GATE/Teacher fellowship holder.
ii) Candidates who have cleared M.PhilProgramme.
iii) Regular Teachers serving in DSPMU, Ranchi having a minimum 2 years teaching experience.
iv) Candidates holding fellowship / Research Positions in Research Projects provided they are selected by duly constituted committee as per University norms for such projects.
v) For admission in Ph.D. Programme, eligible candidates may enrol online in the University Website and download the hard copy of the Application Form on e-payment of Rs. 600/- for general/BC and Rs.400/- for ST/SC. The hard copy of the filled in Application Form may be submitted to Heads of the concerned Departments from 16.02.2019 to04.03.2019 along with the Transaction Slip.
vi) The Date of Interview will be determined by the Concerned H.O.D with consent of the Dean of the Facultyand will be displayed on Notice Board of the Department as well as on the University Website and will also be communicated to the candidates through email/ Message. The interview will be organized by the DRC where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest area through a presentation. The interview shall also consider the candidates competence for proposed research.
Purpose of the interview is to test the competence and research aptitude of the candidate, suitability of the topic with regards to available research facilities, approval of the synopsis and allotment of supervisor.
The list of candidates selected for admission in Ph.D. Programmeshall be displayed on the University Website. Selection will be done purely on merit basis.
Selected candidates will be admitted in the Ph.D. Programmeand he/she will be required to deposit the Rs. 5000/- as course fee. M.Phil. passed students will be exempted from Course Fee.
The admitted candidates will be Registered for the Ph.D. Programmein due course of time after proper processing of the Application Form and approval of the Research Council. The candidate is required to deposit the prescribed Registration Fee.
The Date of Interview/Pre-Registration Seminar will deemed to be the Date of Registration.
The University shall maintain the list of all the Registered Ph.D. candidates on its website on year-wise and subject-wise basis. The list shall include the name of the registered candidates, topic of his / her research, name of his / her Supervisor / Co-supervisor and date of registration.
