Define 'diaspora'? Discuss various theories on diaspora.

b)

Write

critical review of any book of fiction or non-fiction which is based on lndian Diasporic experience.

c)

Discuss the making of lndian Diaspora. Do you agree with calling the colonial phase as'subaltern' and post-colonial as,elite'?

d)

What is ethnicity? Explain how ethnicity is studied in the context of diaspora.

2. Answer any ONE of the following questions (1 x 35 marks)

Formulate a research design on any one of the following themes: a) diasporic identity, b) transnationalism, c) representations of lndian diaspora.

b)

What are the steps in formulating a research proposal? Formulate a research proposal on any areas of research on lndian diaspora which you would like to carry out as part of your ph.D. dissertation.
