Heartbeat Biometric
Harsh Trivedi 5th September 2022
1 Project Overview
1.1 Motivation
Nearly 50000 thousand people under 60 year of age dies due to heart attack in India alone and the reason for this is unhealthy lifestyle. And the most deadly disease in the world is heart problem even more than cancer and still there is not any initiative for early diagnosis of these problems.
1.2 Summary
Some of the solutions that can be implemented to have a healthy lifestysle is eating healthy and doing adequate execises but that is something that we can’t enforce. But what is common in all these people is that they used to work at some place or another and there we can use these heart beat as biometric which can also help us to get the data about there heart and warn them even before they suffer from heart problems.
1.3 Novelty
It is first of its kind in market as it used IR technology to take the data which is fast also. So it is both economically beneficial and also can save many lives.
2 Project Details
2.1 Tools
We will create our own heartbeat sensor to make it fast as usually we don’t have much time to take people’s attendance and also it should be robust so we used infrared light to measure the hear beat which is very fast and less error prone. Then we will use python to write the ML model, some network setup tools and the cloud database on aws.
2.2 Challenges
• The first challenge is that the companies want their attendance system to be fast and robust and usually to get the heartbeat it take some significant amount of time so how to optimize it?
• There is a privacy issue as the person giving biometric does not want other to know his/her personnel health details so we need someway to hide the data.
2.3 Solutions
• We will use infrared based heartbeat measuring system which is fast and also hassle free as there is no physical contact require.
• We will create encoding algorithm so that except the person no one else can see any health related data.

2.4 Uniqueness
The researchers at university of buffalo has made such a tech but there measurement speed is pretty slow which will not be good for the firms. And we will overcome this by using infrared based sensors to speed up the process. And the use of this to take attendance is first of its kind so we will be the leader in market for this product.
2.5 Result
Finally we will have a biometric system which not only work as a robust authentication as it consider both shape of heart and the behaviour. And also it will help in the reduction of death by heart attack as we will warn the users even before heart attack.

4 Evaluation
4.1 Deliverable
1. Robust and fast heartbeat detector using infrared sensors.
2. Setup of network to send the data to cloud and then use it to get the results.
3. A model to predict whether a person is having some heart problem or in future there is a chance of heart problem.
4. Software to mark the peoples attendance and also to encode the data to maintain privacy.
