Rapid urbanisation and industrialization are causing severe impacts on the global environment by increasing solid waste generation, depleting natural resources, deteriorating soil quality, and elevating climate change due to greenhouse gas emissions. The adaptation of a circular and green economy in the waste management sector is the key factor in curbing environmental pollution, along with effective mitigation of climate change. In India, 55 million metric tonnes (MT) of municipal solid waste (MSW) are generated per year. It is rising at an annual rate of 5%, which is expected to increase to 300 million MT per year by 2047. However, the current situation of waste management in India as well as in other Asian countries is not attractive and demands innovative and effective circular economy models to alleviate the pressing climate change issue.
In the current context, the "International Conference on Waste Recycling and Environmental Technology 2024 (WRET-2024)" provides a timely platform for bringing successful case studies and research innovations from developed and developing countries to provide insights for the formulation of strategies for the growing waste management industry with more business opportunities.
Furthermore, the conference will catalyse networking opportunities for young researchers to exchange ideas and interact with eminent scientists working in
