PROCESS MANUAL FOR SLOW AND ADVANCED LEARNERS 1. Introduction:

(ii) The Institution practices a robust student academic counseling

process at each level from newly admitted to finally getting placed or going for higher studies. At the time of admission, apart from the mentors, faculty of the department interacts and gaze the student aptitude. HoD and senior faculty may interact with the aspirants and their parents (if required)

(iii) Once the admission process is over, an orientation program- Student Induction

Program is planned for the newly admitted students to inculcate the ethos, value system and culture of the institution. It includes several activities such as; Yoga, Meditation, Music, Physical Training, Communication Skills, Personality Development, Literary events, Art and Culture etc.

(iv) All faculty members have in their teaching time tables, a slot of one hour per

week reserve for students to approach them to discuss and resolve various Academic & Personal Problems as a part of Mentor Mentee system.

Every learner has a unique approach to learning and a unique set of learning habits.

Teaching learning and teaching methods must be adopted such that the instructor does not lose the attention of the slow learners while simultaneously turning off the advanced students. This process handbook provides guarantee of critical facilitation and support for advanced learners to be exceptional achievers and for slow learners to improve their academic and personal performance. The booklet offers instructors with instructions for identifying and developing major techniques and scientific implementations that will aid both Slow and Advanced Learners.

(v) An initiative of inviting parents at least once in an Academic Year on-line/off- line to interact with concerned faculty mentors and subject teachers to learn about the progress of their wards including assessment performance.

(vi) In each class the most regular student, in terms of attendance and overall performance is selected as Class Representative by the concerned HoD.

(vii) The Institution has a tradition of maintaining mentor-mentee relationship.

The mentor, herewith called faculty mentor is appointed, to keep track of the records of the mentees. This also helps to identify the slow learners and the advanced learners from each batch of each year and every program.

The Students Induction Programme is offered to first-year students in English, Computer Science, and Advanced Technologies are held to appeal to students from various backgrounds. All of these courses emphasis active learning. A bridge course in mathematics is organized for lateral entry students who are lacking in mathematics concepts.

Students are divided into two groups: advanced learners and slow learners, based on their previous university results, each sort of learner has a unique approach to learning and learning habits. A professor must use a teaching style to avoid losing the attention of slow learners and turning off advanced students.

2. Objectives:

The objective of such assessment process of the learning levels of the students is:

i. To determine the elements that influences a student's performance.

ii. To examine them in light of the institutional context.

iii. Provide an appropriate solution for boosting their performance and building a successful career after identification and analysis.

iv. To create a desired and pleasant solution for both slow and advanced learners

7. Special Programs for Advanced and Slow Learners a. Slow Learners

Faculty mentors constantly watch and monitor the progress of slow learners, and they communicate with their parents on a regular basis about their progress. They also communicate often in order to better understand and support students with challenges that interfere with their learning. They also connect with the parents and tell them of the report once each assessment exam is completed.

Slow learners are given extra attention and a methodical approach, as indicated in the flow chart and detailed in detail below, is followed to encourage and motivate them:

i. Remedial Classes: These classes are held for both theory and practical sessions.

ii. Compensatory Teaching: An extra hour is added to the weekly schedule to perform problem-solving sessions, review sessions, and extra sessions.

iii. Problem-Solving Assignments Question Papers from Universities:

Provide answers to questions from the previous two years' question papers.

iv. Counseling Sessions: Assist students with their poor areas of performance and propose ways for them to improve.

v. Individual attention: Focusing on non-academic factors such as communication skills, public speaking, determining carrier goals, and managing academics and personality.

Such students are given regular class tests in order to improve their performance in the university exam. Further, faculty members revise the tough topics as per the student’s requirement and provide university question bank and discuss the way of presenting the answers in the exam to score marks.

All this is achieved by incorporating audio and visual materials in addition to

(10)

their regular course. Special hints and techniques are provided to them. At the end of the mentoring, success stories of the mentoring process by the faculty mentors is documented.
