Note: The questions paper will be divided into three sections - A, B and C.

Questions (one word, one sentence and definitional type). All questions in this section are compulsory. Each question will be of 2 (two) marks and maximum word limit for each answer will be 30 words. Maximum marks of this section will be 16 marks.

Questions. Examinees will have to answer any 4 (four) questions. Each question will be of 8 (eight) marks and maximum word limit for each answer is 200 words.

Maximum marks of this section will be 32 marks.

3) Comment on the important literacy movements in Caroline Age.

4) Describe the life, death and characteristics of virtue in the poem ‘Virtue’.

5) Discuss the ironical perspective in ‘The Battle of Books’.

6) Discuss the plot construction of the novel ‘Tom Jones’.

7) Give a brief background of the novel ‘Tristram Slandy’.

8) Explain ‘The bridal of the earth and sky’.

9) Write a note on the supernaturalism used in ‘Rape of the Lock’.

16 = 32 Note: Section ‘C’ will contain 4 (four) Long Answer Type

Questions and each question will have an internal choice.

Examinees will have to answer any two questions. Each question will be of 16 (sixteen) marks and maximum word limit for each answer is 500 words. Maximum marks of this section will be 32 marks.

11) Describe Sir and Death as given in ‘Paradice Lost’ Book II.

12) Elucidate ‘Absalom and Achitophel’ as a political satire.
